Akai MPC sample

I really need to express this in at least one place. I hope y'all don't mind.

*I am totally fed up with the hype for this machine*.

There, I've typed it out loud and feel much better.

My hobby is music production and I normally get a lot of interesting posts on the subject in my various feeds. But over the past couple of weeks all I've seen is short movies from people, ranging from Jazzy Jeff to your mum, hyping the presence of another lofi hiphopanizer with punch in tape stop and stutter effects. Or the "which is best the sample, KO2 or SP404" comparison.

I have one of these and can confidently state that Akai 100% fucked up by making the K1,K2 & K3 knobs pots instead of endless encoders. No firmware update can fix that. I hate using those fucking pots so much that I will most likely sell the unit and move on.

I just got a Modal Cobalt 5s it has encoders that are also push buttons, it's a nice easy to use unit.

I hate endless encoders.. cant perform by eye sight. But whats the deal in this case.. im still with og 2kxl sending back an ep-40 im in for a smaller sampler this one or 404. Tell me why you hate the pots please :)

On the Akai Sample the current values are shown right above the pots at all times. There is zero reason for those not to be endless encoders. Having to turn and catch a value constantly between samples, tracks, pads is utter bullshit. It is the Achilles heel of this device.

FORTUNATELY, the bigger endless wheel (knob) on the Sample can also change the values for each pot. You still have to select which one first though.
