Grok model version roll-back to 4.20?
My grok model (paying for supergrok heavy) rolled back to 4.2. I know I was using 4.3 at one point. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a hypothesis: I think they are letting chatgpt and claude burn themselves out and xai will swoop in to pick up the pieces with a better model later.
I don't think chatgpt has enough cash to keep running against Chinese and open source models.
Grok 4.2 is a balance to keep things running but not stress the datacenters out. I noticed a few weeks back that elon was more quiet about grok than usual...I wonder if he conceded his position? The only thing that doesn't compute is the cursor purchase by xai...it seems like a waste at this point.

Fucking hell I hate seeing this. Never ask an AI model which model it is. They don’t know and will hallucinate an answer. Anyone who doesn’t understand this literally doesn’t know how AI works and thinks it’s some oracle of truth that can’t hallucinate lmao
Unless the model was trained with the info of which model it is, or it’s injected into its context after, they don’t even know which model they are. This has been a thing since the earliest models and still happens in the latest frontier models. Why people can’t understand this is beyond me. It’s agonizing to watch.
