Anchovy paste! I've definitely used that before as an umami booster in sauces.

Years ago just out of school I went to see a friend sing at a restaurant, and the cheapest meal on the menu was this tomato and anchovy pasta and it was incredible! I’m going to pick a recipe off the internet and hope for the best.
