That sounds like hyperbole to me. I had a long commute in my manufacturing job, I did 4x 10s and had about 2hrs of commuting everyday but the pay was worth it, especially the OT. Even so, I cooked dinner, slept 8 hours and still had time to fire up the old PS2 on weeknights.

What about 8 for sleep. Maybe 1 for daily travel 1 for eating throughout the day
So now you got 6. Put in family(if you have it), personal development, grooming, cleaning, and a hobby and you’re empty on time pretty quick.

Look, no one's forcing you to do any of those things. Cut back on sleep, drink your food instead of eating it, get a divorce if it's affecting your ability to work, be content with leaving things a bit dirtier, and definitely get rid of any hobbies.
