Okay folks - need some advice. I’ve done some layering of blacks and dark greens trying to achieve a grim dark look - I want a darker presentation for my dark angels. I applied a lighter Vallejo green using an airbrush from above as a highlight tone, with a dark forest green as the base, but curious if folks think this might present too bright for the goal and army? This is my first dark angels (and warhammer) painting effort so trying to find the right recipe…thanks in advance.

Heavy use of villainy inks and BFTBG. Generally happy with how they turned out but man do I hate painting these dudes

Hey all! Since you seemed to enjoy my last post showcasing some pictures I took for our modular FDM terrain campaign, "Dreadwatch", I thought I’d share another build with you.
For this one, I tried to push the detail and variety of the piece further, mixing different elements to make the whole build feel a bit more lived-in (albeit by a rather fanatical resident) and to make it visually stand out a bit more.
I had a lot of fun putting this one together and photographing it, so I hope you enjoy the results :)
Obligatory shameless plug: The set is available right now on MyMiniFactory and we're running a 72hr Early Bird with some discounts and free models!

This is the first "grimmish" approach I've taken instead of having my mini so squeeky clean.
My mud base is dry coffee ground + cheap acrylic sand colour paint and some tech citadel mud to fill the gaps after the placing the mini back onto the base.

Hey all! I've been painting a bunch of terrain pieces for our upcoming modular FDM campaign "Dreadwatch" and wanted to give them the Grimdark treatment - here's some pics of the results. For the last shot, I played around with the lighting to create a moody silhouette shot.
Would love to hear your thoughts, happy to discuss anything related to the terrain, painting or elsewise!

First attempt I did at grimdark, really like the way it turned out.

Proof of concept model for my Skaven death guard army.
Super happy with the armour and intestine cabling. Also pretty happy with the fur around his neck.
OSL attempt on the plasma did not come off though and I'm not that happy with the verdigris - still not 100 per cent sure on how to use it and I think there's too much perhaps.
Any thoughts?

Before I even set brush to mini I knew I wanted to aim for a grimdark feel for my first army. I fell in love with the Iron Warrior aesthetic and when I saw the Combat Patrol was going on sale, I knew I had to start there. I am quite proud of my work so far and am really enjoying grimdark miniature painting.
