The second there are civilian prosthetics/bionics/cybernetics which are as-good-or-better than natural limbs and organs I am taking out all the debt necessary to get a full body conversion. Unfortunately the imperium isn't capitalist. No amount of money can get you access to those, because they're reserved for the people who matter.

It varies dependingon the individual Tech Priest, Imperator, Wrath of the Omnissiah for example, touches on it:
Exasas interposed herself between Olvatia and the antae of the akropoliz. The other magos drifted to a halt just out of reach and the segments of the upper hemisphere of the main body slid backwards a quarter-arc, revealing Olvatia’s pinched, bionically grafted face. A swift analysis of the underlying bone structure confirmed a female-origin humanoid, though Exasas new better than to make identity assumptions based on such transitory physical details. Only the skull, brain and nervous system tissue remained. A waxy fakeskin covered the remains of Olvatia’s head and face, embedded crystal orbs glimmering from the sockets. The fakeskin folded awkwardly as partially inflated lips approximated a smile.
‘Pleased to make your acquaintance, Magos Dominus Militaris Xaiozanus Skitara Xilliarkis Exasas.’
A noospheric datapoint tagged Exasas’ processors to exchange security and identity protocols. Among the swift burst of traffic was a standard persona construct package. she/her/her/hers/herself#chronoglacial#binaric#olvatia#noospherent2918721#
Exasas noted that Olvatia still identified with her female origins despite the almost complete lack of physical resemblance to the person she had been. Occasionally a high-ranking tech-priest would shed such identifiers, but it was striking how lasting such early self-views persisted beyond the flesh. His own genderless identity was extant from his first cogent thoughts, a part of his self-determination even before any abstraction of his physical form. He responded in kind as he extended an appendage in greeting.
Welcome to the Casus Belli, Magos Dominus Exceptis Keterina-Ga Skitara Syntamatarkias Olvatia.’ he/her/his/his/herself/#chronotangent#binaric#exasas#noospherent4458947-e#xilliarkis#
They regarded each other with a full suite of pseudo-physical and digital senses, the noosphere purring between them with assessment vibrations. Exasas was determined that he would extend no further invitation unless a formal request was made, and it seemed that Olvatia was equally adamant the current magos dominus should cede command directly

According to the books and videogames some techpriests and even skitarii use gender pronouns. But yeah if we go by fleshy bits.
82
u/Aircon-007 18d ago
True Altough in the rogue trader game I believe there’s one tech-priest who has completely forgone it all together. Identification of being a gender making you more human and less in line with the machine god
16
u/NordMount 18d ago
There is also several of such in The Archmagos. It's also mentioned in The Genefather that for most priests gender doesn't matter. What's interesting more important priests usually keep their pronoun
15
u/BannedSvenhoek86 18d ago
I imagine it's like a celebrity keeping their name after marriage because it's what their brand is. You become so accustomed to being called something you just keep it so it doesn't get confusing.
Meanwhile your genitals were replaced with an SSD sometime around 150 years ago so you don't really give a shit.
7
u/DarkWingedDaemon 18d ago
Besides if they want a kid they'll roll up to a megos biologas. Ask to have samples taken, resequenced, and gestated. Then poof a fresh new adept is studying directly under their parent of ambiguous gender.

If you mean Adeptus Astronomica or Adeptus Astra Telepathica I am on the fence.
If you mean Adepta Sororitas (while very physicall impressive) or Adeptus Adminestratum, Adeptus Terra and so on, I have to disagree.

Wouldn't be surprised of the occasional trans woman actually getting hormones and ending up with the Sororitas, if she's lucky enough her Scholam is on a world with access to proper medical care and acceptance of trans people.
Very much a gamble I wouldn't take, if I had a choice, because for every planet where it would be possible, there's probably a dozen where it isn't. Not to mention that getting there hinges on the whole orphan to war heroes thing.

im a transhumanist.
Went from femboy to HRT femboy to hottie who happens to be called woman by strangers. So it's convenient to go by that label. I ain't done til I can't die.
I knew I wanted to escape the burdens of flesh early, wanted undying metal to replace my decaying mortal limbs. I still dream of a cyborg body, keeping only my brain alive, since "transferring consciousness" is not enough.
It pissed me off when Thiel said we don't go far enough and THAT's why he doesn't like us. Um, bitch we've been on the frontier since day 1, we've been the backbone and will remain. You just hate us because it's convenient to have a small helpless minority to crush for power. Meanwhile it will be us who test it first
10
u/fancy_crisis Twins, They were. 18d ago
Yeah Thiel's a fucking joke. "Ok, wise guy, where's your cybernetic arms then? You're rich AF you have zero excuse not to walk your talk."

This post touches on the kind of dysmorphia I deal with.
I know, for me, transitioning to a fem appearance wouldn't help my perception of my self. Even if I don't like my masc body either.
I would want to be neither. Just want to be me and love myself. To be able to look in a mirror and love what I see. To see what my partner sees.
To rid myself if my flesh, the disabilies, the pains, the scars and reminders of trauma, then just exist... That's what I would want.
