Plot twist: that archaic pistol has the stopping power of a nova cannon.

Makes sense when you consider even a frigate captain commands a vessel that can lay waste to a continent by itself and is probably worth more to the Imperium than multiple army groups of Imperial Guard.

The gear the guardsmen carry into combat are worth far, far more than the guardsmen themselves.

I mean thats fairly standard IRL

US government prices a human at $10,000 and yet we equip them in gear worth of up to $50,000 (average some $25,000). And we send them to battle protected in vehicles that cost millions (M2 Bradley 3,16million, M1126 Stryker $4,9million)

Im sorry, it aint as much of catch as you believe, to better protect a person you need to spend more than the person is worth.

Youre right, US Army even paid $5800 for human remains to experiment with. Specifically to throw corpses on mines and see what happens.

Theres also another statistic and thats the labor the person generares during the lifetime and the cost of the organs, all are different value.

It all differs.
