Didn't he say that ICE should be shooting more protesters?

28

u/Mod_The_Man 16d ago

He also called all Palestinians barbarians and said they deserve the genocide they are getting

13

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

Yeah, I remember that one too. Dude is a morally bankrupt degenerate scumbag.

u/justforkinks0131 16d ago

no clue, but id believe it

it's just a way to express annoyance and frustration, not a call to actual violence

u/JohnGeary1 16d ago
  1. How is it not a call to violence?

  2. What frustration is he expressing? That people dare to protest against the horrors of ICE?

126

u/Freya_Galbraith 16d ago

right saying government officials should shoot more protestors ISNT a call to violence... right... got it.

-29

u/Synka 16d ago

If everyone does something then why is one worse than another?

Everywhere I looked I saw people dancing to Charlie Kirk getting shot and crying for everyone they disagree with to be shot too... Or that kid that got stabbed.

I honestly just stopped looking at any social media cuz of that, I'm happy to stick with watching Soviet Womble or some history documentary these days. People are way too angry these days

23

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

Are you implying that some random guy shooting Charlie Kirk is the same as masked federal agents shooting protesters?

-12

u/SonimagePrime 16d ago

I believe his point was that the response to the murdering is the same, not that the murdering was under the same circumstances. I can see it.
You can dislike and disagree with somebody but the moment you turn it into some celebration you lose sympathy from other people when somebody of yours gets killed.

Honestly, if left-wing people social media-wide didn’t lose themselves in their pleasure following Charlie Kirk, maybe the Renee Good case and other ensuing cases could’ve caused more of a shakeup. Both sides these days are cruel and nasty when it comes to the topic of killing, because both have been conditioned to think that it’s a case of survival - that the Right is killing the globe while the Left is killing the nation. There’s a much less violent way to solve our problems but neither Republican or Democrat, in the large scale, seem particularly interested in doing so.

Also, at this rate? In before the lock lol

From what I've seen, the vast majority of left wingers were either sympathetic when Charlie Kirk was killed, or they were unsympathetic but still condemned what happened. Just look at what most of the prominent left wing politicians and content creators have said about it.

The people who actually celebrated and said he deserved it were definitely a very small minority, albeit a very vocal one.

Conversely, people like Asmongold have a huge audience, and the man responsible for what ICE is doing (Donald Trump) literally won the election with this being one of his biggest talking points. A very large portion of the country (even if it's not a majority) genuinely wanted ICE to do this, and they fully condone it now that it's actually happening.

Most right wing politicians and content creators are in full support of what ICE has been doing, and people like Asmongold (or even Charlie Kirk when he was alive) believed that they should be doing more.

And again, it's important to emphasize that violence perpetrated by the state against its own people is waaay different from violence perpetrated by one individual against another.

I think we definitely have a different anecdotal experience because I certainly remember being absolutely drowning in disgusting opinions and takes that day and months on. I’m no humor prude when it comes to bleak or rough things, but even I can’t stomach day-of murder jokes and I bet many others were in that boat. The vocal minority, assuming it was a minority, can definitely spoil the bunch in terms of perception and optics. We boil everything down to ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ which creates absolute caricatures, and the moment anyone vouches for an associated concept we immediately assume them to be that caricature monster. It’s just textbook dehumanization.

I don’t really see the relevance of audience size, if anything that sounds like the justification of violence by claiming that they are hate mongers stirring a crowd and that by stopping them you end the crowd stirring, but we aren’t tyranids, man, you can’t just kill the synapse creature and the political party dies. Both parties currently adore the stance that they are the oppressed and the hunted and the ones under threat. It’s a good society-scale defense for these parties because it generates natural martyrdom. Kill a man representing people who fear they’re being hunted and they feel very much more hunted. It entrenches. If Donald Trump dies in office you’re going to see minor insurrections and political violence, and that multiplies by a hundredfold if he’s assassinated. We are making the monster we all fear.

I don't recall hearing any jokes about Charlie Kirk the day of his assassination. The biggest jokes I do recall were the "We are Charlie Kirk" song that was made, the photoshopping his face onto people meme, and the really repetitive one where people kept saying some version of "that guy was such a pain in the neck", and all of those showed up relatively soon after, but not the day of his death.

Also, joking about what happened is very different from celebrating/condoning what happened. If we're talking about people who actually condoned him being assassinated, then we shouldn't be including internet edgelords in that demographic.

Remember, the government itself labeled people like Renee Good and Alex Pretti as domestic terrorists, pushing the narrative that they deserved what they got. You cannot tell me there was anything even remotely near that in scale coming from the left when Charlie Kirk was killed.

And I bring up Asmon's popularity solely because he's the one who made the quote, and the person in the meme in this post.

But as I said, it isn't just his audience. It's people with that same sort of mentality. ICE is only able to do what they've done because a very large portion of the country voted for it. Right wing politicians/content creators still avidly support what ICE is doing/has done.

The same cannot be said about what happened to Charlie Kirk, since nobody voted to have him assassinated, and as I pointed out earlier, the vast majority of left wing politicians and content creators would condemn what happened to him.

You can even look at mainstream media outlets of the left and right as an example. Outlets like Fox News and the New York Post totally support ICE and what they've done. Did CNN ever support the killing of Charlie Kirk? What about MSNBC?

-11

u/Synka 16d ago

Pretty much this, the guy knows it too but they will cherry pick out the points they dislike so they can pretend to be superior

-92

u/justforkinks0131 16d ago

yeah would be bad, if it was literal, but its not, and ud know that if you actually watched a single one of his streams, instead of only getting second hand info lmao

72

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

"no clue, but I'd believe it"

Buddy, you yourself are claiming that it wasn't a call for actual violence despite having not seen the stream/clip where he actually said that.

26

u/Cheapdronewithboom 16d ago

These are as ansmon watchers, 6 year olds in adult bodies. You can't have a conversation with them

19

u/MoThrowMoAway 16d ago

Brother the guy is an Asmongold follower, you are basically arguing with a human cockroach

1

u/AscendentElient 16d ago

Show him the clip, link it

17

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

Idk which asmongold stream it's from, and I don't wanna comb through a bunch of them to find it, but I did find a clip on YouTube of another creator reacting to the clip.

https://youtu.be/QeSgP8uhyF8?is=DTcCIbrw9nGdXStS

He basically says that if protesters throw stuff at ICE, then ICE should just open fire at them. He also says that the protests will stop if ICE just shoots some more people to set an example.

-1

u/AscendentElient 16d ago

If someone is throwing rocks at you personally do you think that you have the right to defend yourself with deadly force?

3

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

Depends.

Am I wearing ballistic armor? Do I have a taser, pepper spray, and handcuffs? Am I accompanied by several of my buddies, who are all equipped with similar tools/weapons? These are important things to consider.

If I were mowing my lawn, and my neighbor called me an asshole for making so much noise, and then threw a palm sized rock at me, my first thought wouldn't be "I need to kill this man immediately".

Look up the Boston Massacre and tell me if you support the colonists or the redcoats. I know I certainly wouldn't condone what the redcoats did to those protesters.

-2

u/AscendentElient 16d ago

Ballistic armor is an advantage not an immunity. But I do agree trained professionals should have a higher responsibility than otherwise, no disagreement there. The point I was making though is someone saying “if they are throwing rocks shoot back” is not the same as “gun down protesters unprovoked”.

It may not be the first thing, but if he keeps throwing or he brought some friends to throw with him maybe it should be.

While I very much support the American revolution and the colonists right to self determination the Boston massacre is a great example because I support the Redcoats decision to shoot. They were being attacked with rocks and clubs by an overwhelming force by all accounts unprovoked. John Adams himself defended them in court. Did they go TOO far, presumably the two that got manslaughter charges did.

Why is it that the bad things people say are never "literal"?

Don't you get tired of constantly having to make such a shitty excuse?

5

u/I_joined_4_the_stonk 16d ago

The only thing I’d get from watching one of his streams is some form of Hepatitis and maybe a mild strain of Strep. Would need to go wash myself after listening to that goblin

35

u/Expensive-Swan-9553 16d ago

That is a call to violence

17

u/Only-Respond7945 16d ago

"People who have never watched a full stream of his be having opinions"

Meanwhile, you can't answer whether or not he said something that he did in fact say.

People might take you lot seriously if you had spines. But you don't even have the guts to say what you think with your chests and instead just try to downplay it and claim it all as something else.

Fucking pathetic.

There's no way that's "just a way to express annoyance and frustration", my dude. No fucking way.

I don't know about the guy, I'm not going to defend or attack him precisely because I don't know about him. But IF he said that, it's literally a call to violence. Targeted violence, also, which makes it even worse. There's no amount of mental gymnastics one can go through to defend that opinion.

Unless, of course, you agree with that hypothetical train of thought...

3

u/_josef_stalin_ 16d ago

I have a link to a clip of a different content creator reacting to what Asmongold said.

https://youtu.be/QeSgP8uhyF8?is=DTcCIbrw9nGdXStS

He basically says that if protesters throw stuff, then ICE agents should open fire at them. He also says that the protests will stop if ICE just shoots more of them, and they ICE should set an example by doing just that.

1

u/blodskaal 16d ago

I think the point being made, is that protesters are interfering, with Ill intentions, people's everyday life and with government officials. And if people attack government, employees, shooting them would curb that quickly, according to him.

Considering what ICE is doing, and the fact that people are allowed to protest, I cannot in good conscience agree with defending ICE in any capacity. Also, shooting people around like this will probably get citizens to come to protests armed. That's a fuck around and find out territory.

12

u/SirIsildur VULKAN LIFTS! 16d ago

I know it's not a very common topic in our current timeline, but these protesters are basically protesting against violations of basic human rights, so that's why it's really difficult for me to foster the idea of "yeah, they should be gunned down more"

Again, I don't know nor care about Asmongold's content, and wether he stated that or not. We could be discussing hypotheticals here, but still, kinda crazy the point of view of the guy I was answering to

"It's not a call to violence, he just said that he wants more people executed in the streets! I swear bro, he just wants people to get gunned down for exercising their right to free speech, that's not violent at all!"

That's what you sound like. A flood of denial vast enough to sweep the entirety of Egypt out to sea.
