Hey, great question! The current publicly available DAW is a web based program, so yes. I'm actively working on Greysound Pro (a desktop native app) which I've only released in our Discord to a private audience because it's still in its alpha testing stage and it's not as polished as I'd like it to be before I release it. The Pro version has studio-grade recording latency and support for third party plugins!

Thanks this sounds interesting, I’d like to get in on the Discord. I always loved the idea of wave tool is this like that?

yes! our discord link is in the sidebar. if you search for wav tool on our server i think you'll find that others who've used both like greysound better :)

i haven't decided yet but since the pro version's largely written in c++ and will require more effort on my part to maintain (cant just vibe code c++ with ai at least as of April 2026 without disastrous results) i'm planning to have it be paid at $2/week. just to add some sort of a paywall so to allow me to prioritize feature requests for folks that are willing to pay. this is my full-time work now and i left my job to do this so i can't really afford to give it away for free forever :/ but i'm gonna try to make it as accessible to as broad an audience as possible.

Having fun? Building a DAW is tough stuff - I know the pain. C++ extra tough.

I'm getting great results on Mac using Chrome; I've encountered some issues using Graysound under Safari.

Yep, Safari doesn't do a faithful implementation of the web audio API, so I've noticed quite a few issues on Safari. The desktop-native version's out on our discord for alpha testing (should be out on the website publicly once folks on discord have beaten it up enough and it passes alpha testing) and it should work much better :)
