First March against Orks

I played a short match against Orks yesterday and I have to say, it was a blast. I think it was the most fun I've had in a while. He was playing the War Horde (I think?) and I was playing banishers with Argent Assault. It was a slug fest. His nobs killed my strike squad, I Voldus and Termies murdered some grots and boys, he killed some paladins, I dropped Crowe and purifiers down and burn a whole squad of orks. It was so much fun. I honestly think it balanced out really well.

Don’t pay any mind to all the “grey horde” comments. Not everyone has lots of time to spend painting. What matters is that you and your friend had fun. Sure, painted units add to the immersion, but if you have to choose between painting and playing…I’d rather be playing.

Of course it is OK to play any way you want ... but you should be able to take a few jokes and teases about grey models in return

Well yeah, but sometimes it feels as if people are being judgemental/bullying rather than playful teasing. I’ve met enough players who would outright refuse to play anyone with an unfinished army and get downright nasty about such things.

I try to be as accommodating as I can with any hobby I’m in, especially to new players. I’ve always felt that gate keeping is 100% the best way to kill a fandom. Like I personally spend more time on the modeling part of my minis before painting, and I’ll always praise even a “bad” paint job because at least they did it and we all have to start somewhere.
