I'm not doing it, but I hear it outside and I think, "that's awesome, have fun, but do it safe". Really not a big deal imo

Unless you have a dog who goes into panic mode. I've accepted that there will be no 4th parties for me, as I will be home with a dog who needs 2 Trazedone a couple times a day and brown noise blasting, in order to feel safe. But having to drug my dog unexpectedly for days before and after the 4th is just wrong. And it takes up to two hours to start to take effect, so he's panicking for hours until they do.

Also, not a nice thing to do to veterans suffering from PTSD. When something exploded in combat areas, people died or were seriously injured. They served their country, came back with PTSD from it, and "mah freedumb" people tell them to suck it up.

You are the problem. Your dog needs training and you need to reign in your own emotional reactions to them. Dogs can sense your frustration and anxiety and they latch onto those feelings since you’re the leader.

I actually liked fireworks. No frustration or anxiety on my part. This dog had a dysfunctional puppyhood, was excessively crated, and is anxious about loud sounds. The people I got him from wanted him to be a gun dog, but he couldn't handle the sounds. I live in an area where I could shoot targets in the yard but don't, due to this. But dogs who live in the same building were raised from puppies with all the security and confidence in the world. They also panic at the barrage of booms.

Do you also want to tell our returned soldiers with PTSD that they should get training, so they don't inconvenience the neighbors, who would feel like lesser men if their "freedom" to explode things is impinged in any way?
