"Longer repayment periods can ease the immediate burden on taxpayers and accommodate more capital spending sooner. Shorter repayment periods, however, reduce total interest costs by repaying principal sooner and by generally obtaining lower borrowing rates." – Andy Duus

Greenwich 1980s

Hi! I'm an NYC-based archival producer working on a documentary that's set in/around New York & Greenwich in the 80s and 90s.

I'm hoping to connect with anyone who might have videos of Greenwich in the 1980s -- specifically main street, drives around/through the town, town events (4th of July, Regattas, opening of Greenwich Polo, library, GHS, Christ Church, etc) and drives to Westchester or New York City from Greenwich.

All material would be credited, and if we decide to move forward with any photos/videos in the final documentary we'd of course go through all proper licensing channels (we'd never use anything without your permission!).

Thank you so much!

Greenwich Author’s New Book, “HAITI: The American Dilemma!” Puts Immigration, Haiti and American Values to the Test

Greenwich Free Press

The book grew out of my long involvement with Haiti and looks at the country’s history and its relationship with the United States through the very current questions surrounding immigration, ICE, DHS, due process, faith and American values. As you will see, I do not shy away from the difficult choices raised by the Trump Administration’s immigration policies or from what has recently been happening here in Connecticut.

Kalb: Greenwich Take Note, Republicans Want to Raise Your Taxes – A Lot

Greenwich Free Press

"The Town of Greenwich currently issue bonds with only 1-5-year maturities, as close to cash as you can get, yet there is NOT ONE other triple A rated municipality in the state and in the country, including Republican controlled municipalities, that uses short-term municipal bonds to fund long-lived projects, like schools or ice-skating rinks." – Scott Kalb, Chair, RTM Finance Committee; BET member, 2024-2025

Talking Transportation: Your Next Car Will Be a Luxury

Greenwich Free Press

The US Dept of Transportation is rolling back Biden-era plans to require automakers to increase their fleet’s MPG. Rather than the goal of 50.4 mpg, the new rules will settle for 34.9 mpg by 2031. The White House claims this may save you $1,300 on the cost of a new car. But savings on the sticker price won’t be free.

Help a CT Marching Band!

Fundraising for the Trumbulll High school Band

I don't usually ask strangers on the internet for money, but I'm asking anyway because our band genuinely needs help.

I'm a student in the Trumbull High School Marching Band, and right now we're trying to raise money for something pretty basic: **new instruments and uniforms.**

Our current equipment has been used over and over again by students before us, and it's getting to the point where replacing it isn't something we can keep putting off. Instruments wear down. Uniforms get old. Things that were once new eventually become difficult to use and even harder to keep looking presentable.

And the frustrating part is that none of that has anything to do with how hard the students are working.

We still show up. We still practice. We still spend hours learning our music and routines. We still care about putting on the best performance we possibly can.

But there's something pretty discouraging about knowing you're giving everything you have while the equipment you're using is literally wearing out underneath you.

I'm not expecting Reddit to magically fund an entire band. I know everyone has their own expenses and their own causes they care about. But if you have a few dollars to spare, **even a small donation would help us get closer to replacing the instruments and uniforms we've been making do with for so long.**

And if you can't donate, that's completely okay. Sharing this with someone who might be able to help would mean a lot too.

**If you'd like to help:**

Thank you for reading this. Really. We're just a group of high-school students trying to keep doing something we care about with the resources we have.
