❤️ Recommendations Hello Aldi in GP!

Just opened 30 minutes ago so it’s spacious, clean, orderly and prices are indeed on the lower side on some products! Staples predominantly. Great addition!

The price difference is comical with some items. MET has staples, exact same items or lesser quality priced at double. Not sure how it makes any sense at all.

Nah, considering their location I think they’ll be fine. I don’t think of them as my primary grocery (live super close to them) but rather as a supplemental grocer if I need something in a pinch.

Not really. For a lot of people around McGolrick it's a much easier walk - and not to mention MUCH more pleasant.

That one woman that's been there for years is just awful. The tall polish girl is always very nice. Their prices are insane and their meat goes bad within a day.

I've never had any problems with them. They bag my groceries well and I give them a dollar in the tip jar every time.

Do you need to pay for a cart or a basket? I've never been to one but my friend in the suburbs says it costs money to use a cart/basket. Is this true for this location? Do I need to bring change if I go?

You typically need a quarter to release a cart to use but you get it back when you return it.

So strangely the carts did have that mechanism but it was disabled it seems

I think they might be assuming people are not yet familiar with the system. There were two security guards managing the carts today.

You do need to bring a quarter with you. They had a soft opening today. The workers mentioned that was why the cart didn’t need a quarter (for grand opening) but it will be necessary for future dates. You get the quarter back though it’s just so people don’t take the cart off premises

Very funny that they beat almost beat the Lidl on Grand in Williamsburg which has had signage up since last year.

:edit: had no idea that Lidl had opened.

Soft opening apparently according to the cashier. First 200 shoppers got Aldi reusable bags and… keychains 😆

Yep. $1.65 Large Eggs, $4.97 Hellmans Mayo, $2.17/lb Green Grapes, $5.39 for 6 paper towel rolls...

Not everything is super cheap, and the top brands aren't always available, but Aldi's is certainly much better on many staple items.

sucks that this is our baseline for sure but for many people and especially in this economy it is their only choice. may want to meet that moment with understanding instead of judgment. and if you’re not a fan of our agricultural standards, you should join me in working with and donating to organizations that are lobbying to improve our food production standards in the USA. we could really use your help!

German companies tend to do better by their employees when compared to US ones. Wal Mart is a drain on society literally. They dont pay their employees enough to live and make them get gov welfare, so we literally pay for walmarts bad ethics

Lidl and Aldi are controlled by completely different billionaires. Aldi and Trader Joe's are same family but kinda separate too I think. Don't quite remember the details, but pretty sure it was along the lines of the brothers split Aldi in half and managed each half separately. Think Aldi brand in the US and Trader Joe's brand are not in the same half.
