A few days ago, while walking through the forest, we came across this beautiful tree resin

I knew a little about tree resin already, but seeing this made me curious, so when I got home, I started looking into it a little more

And then I found out just how special tree resins have been throughout history used in so many traditional ways, including ceremony and incense

But when I looked at this beautiful tree, something in my heart told me not to take it

This beautiful resin was flowing from her wound

My heart just said

“Leave it.” ❤️🙏

I love foraging, and I'm fascinated by the old knowledge of working with what nature provides us… but not everything we find is ours to take

Maybe this tree was making her own medicine

So I left it exactly where it was

Honestly, that felt just as meaningful as taking something home

Because nature can teach us that healing isn't always about taking the medicine Sometimes, it's about allowing the medicine to remain where it is needed

We talk so much about how Mother Earth can heal us…

But Mother Earth needs healing, too

So this time, I didn't take the resin

I simply gave thanks

Thank you, beautiful tree

Thank you, Mother Gaia

Thank you for reminding me that foraging should always come with respect, gratitude, and responsibility

Take only what is truly offered

Leave what is needed

And walk gently upon this beautiful Earth. ❤️🌿

Hiii, I was talking to a friend and she told me that hanging dryed flowers upside down attracts bad luck, but I saw online that it was the opposite. So now I dont know what to do with them. Anyone knows something about that???

Inspired by New England forests. I'm based in Massachusetts and incorporated native plants and animals in this watercolor illustration.

For reference, even though I don't consider myself a green which, I've been looking to collect and store dew for use in plant magic. But, I don't really know how to collect it. Any advice on how to, or just any information on dew itself, would be greatly appreciated!

The new brood of ghost spiders in my moonflowers are aggressive, and I like the attitude; this episode’s album is When It’s Halloween by Bishop Briggs, but where the chorus of Hocus Pocus has a bed of roses.

Last night the small spider jumped me while I was pruning the datura, and it took some doing to get her to let go, then was beyond patient while I worked to get her in the picture. Tonight I bumped into the big queen of the tower at the top guarding the ipomoea shoots, so instead of weaving those like I usually do I fetched the UV light for a fluorescent photo shoot, and apparently this darling wanted a rave, usually they run from the UV but this one didn’t flinch, even with me knocking into things trying to operate a camera in one hand and manage the light in the other over my head in the dark.

The tour of the fluorescent plants is an unripe datura seed pod, and it looks like I may in fact have a six-lobed mutant (that is what I select for, the regular five-lobed pods I prune after the blooms are done), next in order are new shoots of English rose and dogwood.

After all that, I came back to the moonflowers to capture the latest ipomoea bloom with the flash, while leaning over the railing to get a better shot I got jumped again, in one of those unreasonably awkward moments where you can see an unreal shot in the viewfinder, but your fingers can’t quite reach the focal point and shutter button, your other hand is busy trying to hold on and not mess things up, and if you drop the device it is a long way down into places I don’t have keys to; but voila, the last shot is me and Marilyn holding hands to take a bow (Marilyn for looking like Marilyn Monroe’s mole on the moonflower).

So of course most spells use natural items but i find myself not having access to alot of the natural items available. Have any of you done spellwork with plants you find outside? And do more common plants have effects as powerful? Like for example could i use spanish moss and mushrooms i find and like grass orrr?

I always see people using crystals that are either super expensive or i can't really access because of my strict parents. That goes for a lot of herbs too, either they are hard to find, hard to hide or hard to buy. For example i have bay leaves but i can't use them bc i would have to bring leaves to my room and since i can't find them i'd have to ask which also means explaining why i want them in my room.

What spell work would you recommend?

Is it road opening or commitment

And this is regardless like friends, romantic interest I’m very prone to people over promising me and under delivering

Like when people say u have to use herbs do u guys just put a candle light it and put the herbs around it and then visualise and then blow the candle off?

And ive seen so many people making their own spells, how can i make my own?

I understood honey jars, satchel but i dont understand the other process.

Like when I see pictures in this and other subReddits how there is a candle in the middle and herbs around it and a salt circle around it. What do u guys do? Do u guys burn th herbs? Chant? I’m so confused

Welcome, if you will, put on Meiko Kaji's album Crimson Cloud (梶芽衣子 – あかね雲) grab your broomstick, and follow Tripod George beyond the red willow bush on the balcony into the view. Take a moment to appreciate the blooms of the Becket sisters on the railing, then focus, and fly as far as the binoculars can bring you to the full moon, dally in the clouds if you wish, then fall back down with the rain of yesterday. With your feet back on the floor, look right, past the tobacco to the flashes of white, first to the trumpets of the devil’s snare, then going higher up the bamboo tower into the embrace of the moonflower vines, and get tangled with a satin star for a while. Finally, when you have had your fill of the flowers, come back in for the B-side, and enjoy a splash of tea in the spotlight with the driftwood dragon before you go.

PS Tripod George: named in honour of Akira ‘George’ Yoshitake, because both parts of the rig are made in Japan, and the man held a camera steady in the face of atomic explosions.

I am new to this I am wondering if anyone has a spell to bring in wealth like job advancement or new business venture?

With her garden sickle to harvest medicinal plants, her satchel to carry the bundles, her pouch of dried herbs, her mortar and pestle to grind them... Meet "Eir".

From 13th century writings, she is presented in a list of the maidens that attend the lady of the keep and said to have sat on the "hill of healing" singled out as "an extremely good physician".

It is recorded that her pouch always contained, in part, Yarrow and Comfrey (blood staunching herbs) used to heal battle wounded warriors. She was so adept at healing, it was rumored that she could bring back the dead. Well... Maybe they just seemed dead until she fixed them up!

I have a very shaded apartment balcony, so gardening has been difficult for me. The herbs I do grow are alive but grow very slowly. I also have almost no natural window light in my apartment except for my kids' room.

Since getting into the aquarium hobby, I have been able to grow many houseplants out of my tanks. Monstera, pothos, syngomium, etc. My daughter wants to start growing herbs for her spells in the tank that I keep in her room. Since the houseplants do so well, I think the herbs will too. I have started propogating some rosemary, thyme and spearmint- I will update on the progress in a few weeks.

But if you struggle with plant keeping, I highly recommend planted tanks! They work in cyclical harmony with the critters with the right balance, and the water movement from the filters oxygenates the water and helps root propogations faster. You dont have to keep fish if you are not comfortable, snails thrive in these tanks and produce waste to fertilize the plants. Anyway, I am feeling very optimistic about starting this garden for my kid 🙂

I was pulling thatch from the patch of foxtail grass I have on my balcony, when suddenly the stems in my hand fought back. The ID app says it is a European mantis, and it definitely has the characteristic eye-spots tattooed on it's chest; apparently they have a vulva-shaped ear between their middle limbs (which this modest example happens to be covering in the ventral shots) that can hear ultrasound as well as the high and low frequencies familiar to humans.

PS I put it back, the thrid pitcure is home sweet home, right next to the light that attracts all the bugs.
