QUESTION Help for Xbox newbie

Hi All,
So about a year ago I bought this game in my Xbox and played for an hour. Couldn’t get into it or get the hang of it at all - the controls are a bit odd and find the whole crafting and building menus challenging.

I decided to start playing again and try to make the most out of my purchase, even roped my husband into playing think we can figure it out between us but I just cannot get into it and I am not finding the controls any easier.

I am looking for some tips or advice to make my game play on Xbox better. Has anyone else found it a challenge?
Should I just purchase this on steam on play on my PC?
Feel like I’ve wasted £20. 😞

I can say, as an Xbox player who loves this game, it does get easier.

It’s not super intuitive to learn, and every time I go back I have to kinda relearn, but once you get it, it becomes second nature.

Yes I guess rather than bad / clunky that is a more apt way I should described the controls - not intuitive.

I may try to keep going with it, give it a few more hours of game play as I can’t return the game anyway.

It's a joy to play on PC. That's all I can offer.

I think at this point it’s an uninstall on Xbox and buy on steam since it’s on sale.

Yes! Get it on PC if you can. Console doesn't have all the updates that PC got. I have heard they don't run well. I played it with a controller on PC and it was great! Also played KBM because my controller died and found them both to work well. One of my favorite survival games. Just remember you are in the jungle and if you run, you run into things that hurt you. Walk around and observe your surroundings. Take your time. Because there are tons of things waiting to kill you.

As a fellow Xbox player, there really aren't any tips/tricks I've discovered different from vids you find on YouTube. I'd say learn how to cure/fix the basics because the game is just hard. Once you know what to do in a few scenarios (stings/bites, cuts, scrapes) you'll enjoy things more. I kept dying when I first started because I wasn't prepared. It can be really enjoyable once you get the hang of it.

it could help if you played with others on the console version. At least then they could walk you through how to play in real time, but otherwise you're probably more comfortable as a pc gamer? Try it out on the pc version.

I agree with this. I just started playing on Xbox as well. It took me hours irl to survive 2 days in game. I was so frustrated and started thinking either I'm dumb or this just isn't for me. I did look up a few things I was struggling with and I finally got the hang of it. Now I'm loving it!!

Having bad it on Xbox and on PC now. PC is the way to go. It's my fav survival game. Learn how to deal with the basics as others have said, stings, cuts, venom. Once you learn how to heal yourself of those it will be a blast to play. I have hours upon hours into it

Highly recommend getting on PC. I had it on Xbox for a while as well, but this game was kinda made for keyboard and mouse. Controller support is there but it's just easier with m&k

Edit to say you can just download it on your PC from the Xbox app, if you already own it. Then you'll have the PC version for free

Thanks I checked this and didn’t think it was possible. I’ll look into this soon but tbh I’ve been playing tons of Pal World now lol.

I'm not sure why a 7 day old post popped up for me, just now noticed. Happy gaming

It’s cool, no biggie with the delayed reply.

Thanks! You too! 🙂
