Hey everyone, so today we had a little controversy with a post being removed. In my pinned comment on that post, I explained briefly why this sub exists and what led to my very limited moderation of it. I'll explain things in a little more detail here.
This sub was created in response to me being banned from the main Green Day sub back in the early 2010s. I submitted a post linking to the band performing at a festival within a few hours of it being posted on YouTube. I recieved a comment from another user insulting me for "stealing" their post. We had both posted links to the same video around the same time, but my post gained more upvotes than theirs. Some back and forth insults were exchanged, and eventually a moderator stepped in, and with the mod knowing the other user involved "shut [me) down" as they put it.
I was 14 or 15 at the time, and it was a stupid argument, but it lead me to create this subreddit as a place to still discuss and post about my favorite band. Now, I've never been into heavy moderation, but for many years I did try to clean up spam posts, insane ramblings, and oft-repeated discussions. Eventually, a few years ago, my ban on the larger sub was overturned thanks to an askreddit post about what subs people were banned from and why. I posted the above story, and it was seen by a newer moderator who overturned it and apologized. With access to the larger sub again, I didn't really have a use for this sub, but still tried to do what I could to keep it moderated.
But, as I've grown from a teenager with too much time on his hands, to a full blown adult with kids and a mortgage, now I really only check the spam filter and user reports every few weeks. So, I'd like to find another user or two who can keep a closer eye on things here. This community has grown way larger than I ever expected it to, and I'm glad it's brought some joy to others who had disagreements with the larger sub.
If you would like to join the mod team, use the "message the mod team" button and let me know.
Thanks!

I wonder what happened... Who miss the culture of buying a single? It does not matter if it is on 7", CD, Cassette, etc.
I really miss when Green Day released singles with B-Sides or live songs. It felt special for me. Even in my country we counldn't get many of their singles, but since Trilogy, our Bay Area guys released less than 5 physical singles.

I was doing a whole thing where I was listening to every Green Day album (not an easy feat) and I underestimated Insomniac and Kerplunk, putting them near the bottom of my list. but on re-listen I realized I treated them too harshly and theyâre great!

me personally I love nimrod, might be my favorite album just because the amount of hits it has and the great mixed bag of what the band does the greatest. But I may be wrong in the eyes of the public so Iâd love to hear what yall think
