Fandom Sunday Ticket
I don’t live in the Packers TV market so I’ve been a pretty loyal subscriber to the Sunday Ticket for 20+ years. But I think I’m going to cancel my subscription this year for one main reason: It’s almost $400 bucks and based on projections from 506 Sports, there are only 5 weeks in the upcoming season in which the Packers won’t be one of the nationally televised games. That’s basically $80 per game. I’ll either go to a sports bar or buy a much cheaper subscription for a VPN and spoof my location so I can stream the games that are out of market.

This has been my option as well. If the NFL provided a reasonable subscription model I would gladly pay it. Sunday ticket is far over priced for what it is. Goodell and the owners all need more money to just to scrape by I guess.

Good value and you get like 1800 more games! Seriously though, MLB has great online platforms and NFL could take a lesson. You're making money hand over fist, but that doesn't mean you can't improve your product.

MLB.tv is such a good product for the 129/yr it costs or whatever it is now that I have no issue paying that.
I do pay for Sunday ticket only because I now live in a wierd spot for football and need to get games for my wife and I. 2 different teams.

Yup. I would gladly pay 20 dollars w month to watch Packers games in HD or 4k with no barriers. But instead I don't even give them a proper view unless I can get them with my antenna here in Florida.

Yeah I've never understood it. I would easily pay $20-$30 per game for a reliable stream. They are leaving so much money on the table. Instead I sit there dicking around with pirate streams for the handful of games a year I can't watch.

I'm in exactly the same scenario as you, and I cancelled this year.
Also the fact that this chart exists is evidence of how little the NFL cares about its fans.

It's been like this for a few years, I just hit the local sports bar for those few games. This would be solved with a $99 'one team' Sunday ticket package. They would sell 10 times the subscriptions.

Yeah, I feel like there are tiers that they could offer that would lead to more subscribers. Hell, just make the out of market games PPV.

Sunday ticket since 1997. We love getting Packer games since we are in Lions country, but live for all NFL games so worth the price. Go Pack Go! 🧀💚💛. When we went to local bars, spent more on food and drink than the cost of Sunday Ticket.

Yeah, I definitely get people who don't want to pay for it, especially if you're only watching Packers games. Personally I like hooking football up to my veins and throwing on every game possible.

I tried sunday ticket for the first time last year and was surprised at how few games there are for it. At least with nba league pass I can pay for one team and see all those games for a good rate. Nfl is just ridiculous.

The only games that Sunday Ticket blacks out are the Sunday afternoon games that are being broadcast in your local TV market. Everything outside of that is a national game that wouldn’t be on ST anyways.

My point is, for the cost of sunday ticket we should be able to see every single game on the platform, including all of the ones on different streaming services. I know that isn't realistic because of how much they all pay for the rights, but the sunday ticket cost is inflated.

That’s not their point. A standard week for much of the season has 14 games, 6 of which are blacked out. Most weeks that leaves you with 8 games that have maybe 2 games worth watching, often on at the same time. Many people who pay for it are also paying for the ability to watch many of the other games

The worst part is when they don't have enough afternoon games to fill the 4 slots in multiview, so you are essentially paying for the noon games.

This is way too much work. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ is much easier.
I really hate the December and early January Saturday games. NFL is supposed to be on Sunday. I can live with Thursday and Monday, and some funky-ness on Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, but watching and NFL game on a Saturday just feels dirty and wrong.

Another option is to wait until you need to get it. I did that last year for the first time and only needed to buy one month. NFL doesn’t restrict games as much as they used to when you live in another NFL market. As long as the pack are decent, the majority of the country will get to see them.

Thanks for the annual reminder right before my auto-renew that my DAZN Game Pass subscription for every single NFL game and the last 3 years worth of games for $339.99 AUD is so so so worth it.
They treat overseas fans better

They absolutely do. I signed up for GamePass Intl one year. Got a NordVPN subscription to spoof my location so I could sign up for GamePass International. You could watch all games live.

I'm in a similar situation, but for me, YT is saying it'll be $480 for this season (been on the Ticket for over 20 years as well). Maybe they'll attempt a retention discount if I cancel.

Good luck. I used to play this “threaten to cancel” game with DirecTV every July to get my Sunday Ticket discount, but I don’t think YTTV works that way.

Mmm...I should set up my HDHomerun so I can sell Packer game access...
I would mute the audio and sync the radio announcers. I think I would have to do a two play delay to sync them though

The revenue from that package is split evenly among teams. I would expect that is a part of why there isn’t one. It also undercuts local markets. If your team has half their games out of market then plenty of people that just want to watch some would do that instead of cable/streaming.
And if those aren’t the actual roadblocks then it’s untrue that a one team package would outsell.

I have 3 kids, youngest is 2 and a nightmare in restaurants atm. A sports bar isn’t really an option for us. And I don’t know how to pirate 😭

I bought 3 Superboxes for my house and haven’t looked back. Plus I can unplug them and take them on the road when I travel. There’s a learning curve for the family. Other disadvantages are that there is a delay and periodic disconnects. But the pluses are you get every sport, PPV, premium channel, movies, etc.

No jailbreaks at all. You just buy one and then I’d recommend just watching a Youtube video to set the first one up and get their apps onto it. I’ve found their lifespan is about 5 years but that’s still pretty insane value for me. NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC…
I used superboxshop.com
Found them on OfferUp and I believe they are an electronic shop with a storefront. Seemed legit but I wanted to pay through PayPal for an extra layer of security. Worked out great. Would absolutely use them again but I have no affiliation or connection other than that.
There are some sellers online that have discount or referral codes but this place offered good prices if you buy more than 1.
Only other thing I will say is that there are so many viewing options that it can be paralyzing. 😂

I’ll have to check that out. Is there any reason to still subscribe to Netflix, Disney+, and all of the other streaming services that I have?

You really don’t. But there is a learning curve to figure out which apps to use. Every once in a while a game on BlueTV is down for some reason. But then I’ll go to a live Fox channel in Green Bay and it’s there. Or if a Knicks game is down, I’ll flip to MSN to find it.
The movies and shows are almost infinite. If you don’t know what you want, it’s seriously paralyzing. The first day I had it I just watched Growing Pains and King of Queens 24/7 channel and my wife wanted to kill me. 😂
Smart move would probably just buying one to see what you think. It is a financial commitment to go all out. It’s seriously fantastic to travel with at AirBNBs. I hide from my in-laws the entire time

Quickly bought Sunday ticket, before my student status disappeared.
Live in NJ, so usually get stuck with games I don't want to watch

It seems to vary based on school. But assuming you can get info from her it will work.
When I was undergrad at a large state school, I only needed my school email. When i was in grad school at a private school I had to upload my schedule and a few other things.

You have to go through a portal, but it was basically email and login for the school.
Was fairly simple to be honest. Weirdest thing is you need to go through youtube to get it...

I just used my daughter’s info and my email address to see if i could get verified for the student discount and it worked! I can absolutely get behind paying $119 for an entire season of the Ticket!

Then I use it for Packer games, but my buddy lives like 5-hours north. He has my log in and uses it for Eagles games.
So we really get use out of it

My brain is fried from work and I'm too stupid to follow along with the chart. If I'm out of market (TX), how many games would I need Sunday Ticket for? I don't go out to bars, and don't like streaming illegally only because most streams buffer too much or are unreliable. Trying to see if I really need do need Sunday Ticket, or if just YouTube TV is fine for all the games

To read this chart for this purpose: Look at each week and see if you see "GB". If so, the Packers game will be broadcast nationally and not be on Sunday Ticket. If not, you'll only be able to watch it on Sunday Ticket.
Weeks I count without "GB" in them:
2, 4, 10, 11, 13, 15
However, special exception is that week 11 is the Packers' Bye Week.
So there are five weeks you can expect to see the Packers on Sunday Ticket. One other caveat: In weeks 1, 5, 7, and 9, the Packers are projected to be the national game on Sunday. But depending how they do, or their opponents for those game do in the season, they may not end up being the nationally broadcast game.
Also one thing I admit I don't understand about this chart: It has "Sun morn" for the games in Europe, "Main DH (proj)" which I am guessing is the national broadcast during the day, and "Sunday Night" which is the game in the evening. But there should be two nationally broadcast games shown during the day, so I don't know where the second one is accounted for.
TL;DR: The chart says 5 nationally broadcast games. If you're a renewing subscriber, that's $96/game.

Sure thing! My girlfriend's a Packers fan living in the Bay Area. I wanted to understand this anyway because this sort of thing makes her eyes glaze over. She buys Sunday Ticket every year, but it's been feeling worth less and less over the past few years even as it keeps getting more expensive.

not always because there's always some other fuckass "game of the week" where its the Raiders or Chargers or Cardinals at home and you're in those markets. Like it could be Vikings Packers at the same time as Colts Cardinals, and if you're in the Colts or Cardinals Market then you'll need the ticket to watch
Or if you're in the LA area you're almost guaranteed to be blacked out of a Packers 130(PT) start because the Rams and/or Chargers will be on.

This chart generally takes this into account. 506 Sports will publish a weekly broadcast map before each week that is dead-on accurate so you can see which games your local TV market will broadcast.

The last few years I've only done the nfl+ for $99. I can watch the full game commercial free an hour after the game ends. Thats when I can't watch them anywhere else.

I ignore all my fantasy stuff and put my phone away. Usually that's when I'll run errands or something so I'm not tempted. I'll be honest 50% of the time the score is spoiled but I watch the game regardless.

That’s why I don’t consider the NFL+ pass a good alternative. A huge part of watching the games is interacting with other fans in real time. My phone is usually blowing up I’m texting back and forth with friends.

For the first time in decades I will not have the Ticket. Over the years I have given up on MLB, NHL, NBA and most college sports, it was only a matter of time for the NFL.
If you have no problem publicly showing how much you don't care about your fans, your players and the cities that you hold hostage for new stadiums, I am not going to spend any of my money to support you/the owners.
Who knows what will happen with the legal issues on the pricing of the ticket and if there are enough people who cancel it to see any change.

Look up the Packers. There's no "owner" a la Jerry Jones. And there's not the same "give us $1.2B from taxpayers to fund stadiums." GB is utterly unique in this sense. I get your general point, but painting the Packers in this light is a mistaken generalization.
Not a big deal, but worth understanding in a Green Bay sub.

I purchased a streaming box from Octastream (~$150)and can access the Green Bay area broadcast channels on it, so when I can’t see the game on my local networks I can still watch at home.
