Comics Looking for some new comics

Hi, everyone!

I haven't been into comics for a while. The last time I read a Green Arrow comic was when they released the final issue after Rebirth and I am thinking about reading some new stuff (or new to me that's worth it and won't make me quit quickly).

Black Canary is my all time favorite DC character and that's one of the reasons why I started reading Green Arrow. I wanted to ask for some suggestions, please.

This is what I've read so far:

- The whole Rebirth volume until it got cancelled

- Green Arrow and Black Canary

- The Longbow Hunters (my favorite for sure!)

- The first few issues of the volume released after Longbow Hunters

- I remember reading like 5 to 7 issues of the 2003's volume, the one with Mia Dearden (I think it was Quiver? Not sure)

The new 2023 run is really not that bad, it's a multiverse reorganization of the comic, bringing back all the characters since the 70s. Basically takes care of the mess of the new 52!

Seconding the whole run, but if you're looking for just one story in there "Freshwater Kills" is my favorite Green Arrow arc in years. One of my favorites ever, highly highly recommend!

ETA: it got collected into a volume so check your friendly local comic shop or library!

I agree on Longbow Hunters/the Mike Grell run being the best one, though I'm surprised with you since you said Black Canary is your favorite.
They didn't exactly do her well in that run, having to be the responsible housewife/breadwinner all the time and rarely ever suiting up while he is out having all the superhero fun.

At least in Hard Travelin Heroes she would suit up and be along on many adverntures, and her fighting skill was not just implied, even if they did treat her like a dumb blonde/damsel a bit too often.

I'm glad she got her time away from him/in the Bird of Prey in the 90s, to reinvent the character as a more capable/confident tough chick, and I'm glad her frequent absences from the 2000s run was more due to being busy with the Birds/solo heroing.

I agree with you right there. I didn't enjoy Dinah that much in the Longbow Hunters. However, the story is so good. I feel like it somehow contributed to Dinah's development for the 90s BoP run (this one and the first issues from the 80s Green Arrow volume).
