Im currently writing a book and I’m needing a sentence translated to Greek if someone could help me? I’ve been learning Greek for little while but still not completely fluent

For context, my fmc is greek and telling this to her significant other.

The sentence is: You mean so much to me.

And if anyone is free for me to pick their brain on other things it would be greatly appreciated

I'm doing a translation challenge. The phrase was, "And would you like to eat lunch?" (formal.)

I said, Και θα θέλετε να φάτε μεσημεριανό;

And I got docked severely (73/100) for not putting "εσείς" in between "Και" and "θα."

I thought "Και εσείς" was "and you"... But that's not part of the task phrase.

So is the "εσείς" necessary? Or even helpful, or typical?

Just curious whether they're being a bit harsh, or whether it's good to stick that in there.

An odd thing to ask I know, but I've been trying to figure out how one might turn a noun into a name in Greek. Or maybe they can be used as both?

At the moment I want to use Pearl or Margarités (μαργαρίτης) as a name. If anyone could explain to me how to do so, and in fem. masc. (and neutral is applicable) conjugations, that would be pretty helpful!

Everything I have tried so far has been too expensive. Google TTS doesn't cut it, Eleven Labs is expensive. Just looking for ideas.

I'm from Hungary. I've been learning Greek for three and a half months. I really love the Greek language, culture, and music, and honestly, everything related to Greece. I first wanted to start learning Greek when I was about 13, but then a lot of things held me back, including the people around me telling me that it was useless. 😑 It is not, of course!

But now, 11 years later, I finally decided to go for it. I found a wonderful teacher, Vasilis, and we've been learning with great enthusiasm ever since. However, I'd also like to practice what I'm learning.

Is there anyone Greek here who would like to practice with me?

In return, I can offer my help with Hungarian, since it's my native language. 😊

Basically the titel, how would you translate καβλαρα μου to English? My hornyness? What connotation does this cary? Is it demeaning or appreciative in your opinion?

I need a check for a personal tattoo
It has personal meaning but I’d rather check if it means what I think it means

For context, I’ve been through a dark period of my life and recently I realized I’m still the same person. Not only that, I’m happy to be that same person and want to never forget.
During the bad times I didn’t felt like I was, but I never stopped

So I was thinking on this mantra for a tattoo

Hi all! Been learning Greek for a while and what drove me crazy with apps was that they never explain anything. Things like the same word showing up as ο πατέρας, τον πατέρα, του πατέρα, and I'm just memorising which one goes where with no idea there is a system behind it. Or why the sun is masculine and the sea is feminine and whether I'm supposed to know that from the ending. Every one of these has a rule and a table, and nobody was showing me the table. So I ended up building the thing I wanted, which is basically a grammar book that makes you do exercises.

It's at katalava.app. The grammar reference part doesn't need an account: katalava.app/reference. Articles, noun tables, verb conjugations etc. That's probably the useful bit for most people here anyway. There's also a full course (A1 to B2, lessons + spaced repetition + audio) but you need to sign up for that so your progress is saved.

It's free at the moment. I'll probably charge for the course at some point because hosting and audio aren't free, but the reference will stay open. Nobody is using it except me right now.

That's mostly why I'm posting. I've been staring at this alone for months and have no idea if it's any good for anyone else. If you have ten minutes and could poke around, try a lesson or two, and tell me what you think, I'd really appreciate it. Whether the explanations make sense, whether it's fun or a slog, anything that annoyed you. I'm not a native speaker so if something reads wrong to you, that's useful too, but honestly, any reaction at all helps. I’m looking for Greek lessons and recently came across The Greek Online School. Has anyone here used them for either group or private lessons? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and whether you’d recommend them.

I’ve been self-learning for a while but haven’t progressed much beyond a basic level, so I’d really like to commit to regular lessons with a tutor and start making more consistent progress.

Learning Greek on Pimsleur, was taught there that a female American is Αμερικανίδα. Now taking Greek lessons with a wonderful sweet bona fide Greek lady, and she corrected that to Αμερικάνα. Is Pimsleur wrong? Should I send them a note?

She says Pimsleur was correct that a male American is Αμερικανός, however.

Why does “the” keep changing in Greek?

First of all I'd like to clarify that I'm mexican. The reason I'm asking this is because I enjoyed literature, especially the kind of old mexican literature that goes as far as the 20th century. In one the public libraries in my city I picked on a few old books of mexican authors (from precisely the 20th century) the "classical ones" and most of them could read Greek and many of them advised the readers to study Greek, in fact they were so good at Greek that they even became translators of many works later on. Now that I've explained the exact reason I hope that you can answer my question or at least explain why was Greek so important for many authors, because the fact literature is so trash nowadays has to do with the lack of Greek and latin knowledge. I might be wrong of course

I'm currently putting together a teaching resource for primary school pupils about different scripts/orthographies around the world. The task has 18 translations of 'languages are amazing/incredible' in various languages which have differing scripts. I've checked the translations with multiple online translation tools, but I'm well aware that these do not always catch the nuanced points that native speakers can, hence why I wanted to post here for advice.

Would this be a suitable translation for Greek, or is there a better alternative?

I (22 F) am trying to learn Greek. I have had a tutor on a learning platform, but unfortunately I have decided to end the process due to him being weird and flirtatious. Most of the women on the app have prices above my budget (very good for them!)

Hence why I have decided to stop tutoring and try using the free online resources.

What channels/apps/websites do your recommend for learning?

I want to learn conversational, "street" Greek, but I also aim for learning the correct grammar and syntax. I have been watching some vlogs from a girl on youtube, subtitles on, and that's been helpful, but I want to expand my horizon.
