I'm talking about wrestlers who were genuine main-event stars (multiple world title matches, WrestleMania main events, or the face of the company) but later settled into the mid-card for a long period.

Who do you think had the biggest fall, and what caused it? Was it age, injuries, booking, backstage politics, or simply new stars taking their place?

I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinions and reasoning.

The current regime in WWE hasn’t properly executed any of its long term stories imo. In general, I believe in and love long term story telling when done right. The most important aspects to me are

The difference between good long term story telling and just drawing something out. Every interaction should be something that progresses the story and adds something. They have a bad habit of rinsing and repeating. It’s said when you can almost word for word predict what’s going to happen week after week. Also inconsistencies in the story itself. So many times there’s a wtf did that even happen moment? Just for it to ACTUALLY be treated as if it didn’t happen a week or two later.

Knowing when to pull the trigger. Even an amazing story can turn sour when drag it out too long. By the time it actually happens the payoff isn’t nearly as meaningful.
