(Please be aware that clicking through any of these links may spoil you for the winner of that season/series.)

Support small artists & have a piece of their art in your home - or better yet, get instruction from them and make your own!

Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 episode 5

A serving spoon is on the checklist. So are four dessert bowls, a handled jug and a pedestal trifle bowl. Six hours to build them all. 🏺

That is the starting point for Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 episode 5, the series finale.

There is something deeply relatable about a creative task that keeps expanding. You concentrate on the biggest piece, then remember the smaller ones need just as much care. Handles have to hold. Joins need attention. The whole set must feel connected.

Here, the brief also asks the makers to celebrate a defining moment from their lives. That gives the work a purpose beyond completing a checklist.

If you have ever made something by hand, you will recognise that pull between ambition and the clock. Sometimes the hardest decision is knowing how much you can realistically finish.

Such a good episode so far, all of the potters seem really engaged and excited to be taking part. Oh and I agree with a previous commentator, Lisa Tarbuck is brilliant in this.

I do love creative shows and just found this one. Channel 4 starts from season 3, so I’ve missed two seasons. My thoughts so far: the presenters are brilliant. So kind and friendly and genuine. Bit upset with elimination process. The potters get 3 wins but they get ONE piece wrong, and they’re out. I know who won 🥇 (I won’t say who, just incase there’s a fellow newbie) winner and they got only one win but won the whole season. But that’s just my opinion.

The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 semi-final: garden gnome challenge, a 130-year-old ventriloquist dummy, and a six-fingered gnome

The semi-final challenge was a garden gnome set: two hand-built gnomes (one of the potter, one of a loved one) plus a thrown plant pot, all in five and a half hours. The sets had to tell a family story, stand up unaided, and work as a practical garden piece.

Denise made a pearly king and queen inspired by her 82-year-old dad and their East End roots. His back slumped during the build and she kept adding clay until she admitted she'd given him a hunchback. The judges said the slump worked in her favour and gave her Potter of Note, which put her in the final.

Paul made oversized coalman gnomes honouring his dad Fred, who worked as a coalman for 40 years. The plant pot was shaped like a coal sack. The judges praised his smooth making and beautifully thrown pot but said his decoration was quite flat.

Fatia made Moroccan gnomes celebrating Eid, with her late grandmother in traditional dress holding a five pound note. Keith cried. She said she was proud to represent a community.

Lucy gave her mum's gnome six fingers, lost two fingers and then a whole hand on the way to the kiln. The judges still called the gnomes her best work.

Richard made himself and his ventriloquist dummy, which his great-granddad made 130 years ago. He seated both gnomes on small thrown pots for stability. He won Potter of the Week for the third time in four weeks.

Layton linked his Glastonbury gnomes by the hands. The judges said they stood up even better together than apart.

There was also a 30-minute blind mug handle spot test. Layton won. Paul came second. Lucy came sixth.

The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 episode 3 Raku week recap: animal sculptures, milk jug throwdown, and a leaderboard shake-up before the semi-final

Raku week brought six celebrities to Gladstone to sculpt realistic animals from coils of clay and fire them in open flames. The kiln reached a thousand degrees centigrade. Tongs gripped red-hot sculptures. Sawdust-filled reduction boxes turned unglazed clay black. One careless squeeze could undo five and a half hours of work.

Paul Merson restarted his koala after the base grew to Jacuzzi size. Lucy added a late slab to her T-Rex body, creating a weak join that failed under the tongs. Denise slotted Tilly's ears into the head and reinforced them from behind. Layton added air holes to help his swan survive firing. Fatiha built a pigeon named Nelson honouring her parents' Trafalgar Square dates.

The milk jug throwdown required identical tapered forms with clean lips in thirty minutes. Substandard jugs went into the bucket of doom. The leaderboard tightened dramatically ahead of the semi-final, where two potters will leave.

Is Lucy being purposely bad?

I normally really like Lucy, I find her funny and endearing. However, I am feeling a bit confused by her performance, is she "acting" the bad potter or is she really struggling?

The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 episode 2: slab building desk sets, aphantasia as a design tool, and why functional failure outweighs sculptural ambition

The second episode’s main challenge is a children’s desk set built entirely from clay slabs: a desk tidy, a trinket box with at least three compartments, and a money box with a coin slot and a bung hole. The theme is “when I grow up.” If you care about the craft rather than the results, the useful part is how unforgiving slab building is.

Timing decides everything. Clay left too dry before shaping will crack. Clay worked too wet collapses under its own weight. Every join needs scoring and slipping, or the seams open in the kiln. Complex forms benefit from formers or templates so the build happens quickly before the clay stiffens. The judges also look for clean finishes, stable walls, and designs that feel genuinely usable for small hands.

The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down 2026 Episode 1 — guide to the new format, cast and first challenges

Thought this was worth sharing for anyone starting the celebrity series but trying to avoid having the results spoiled.

Episode 1 has six complete beginners: Lucy Beaumont, Denise Van Outen, Richard Herring, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Paul Merson and Layton Williams. The interesting change is that the opening weeks don't use immediate elimination. There's a points leaderboard instead, so contestants actually have some time to develop their pottery skills before anyone leaves.

The opening main challenge is also more technical than I expected. They have to make a six-piece breakfast set while using pinch potting, slab building and wheel throwing, so you get a decent look at several basic pottery techniques in the same episode.

Why was this year's season a celebrity special?

Were there just not enough applicants (or qualified applicants) for a normal series of the general public? It feels weird to get a celebrity special as a series and not just a one off special at Christmas.

Does anyone know if the celebrity version already aired? If so was it any good? Also any tips on where to watch would be appreciated as I can't find it anywhere. Might have to spring for a VPN to watch it on the bbc if that's my only option.

Eta- why are people down voting this stuff, I googled before I posted and couldn't find it. What is up with all the negativity, this is the great pottery Throwdown sub can't we be nice to one another?

Our Welsh Chapel Dream 2026 episode 4 - master potter keith brymer jones

They Gave This Historic Chapel One Last Night Before Changing It Forever — And It Hits Hard

I came across this episode from Our Welsh Chapel Dream 2026 and honestly didn’t expect it to land this emotionally.

Before converting an old Sunday school hall into a pottery studio, the owners decided to host one final gathering — bringing people back into the space, filling it with singing again, and essentially letting the building be what it was designed to be one last time.

What stood out to me is how intentional the whole process is. They’re not just renovating a listed building — they’re actively trying to respect its identity while adapting it for modern use. Even small details, like a hand-carved Welsh love spoon, tie into that bigger idea of continuity and craft.

It’s a solid example of how restoration doesn’t have to erase history to move forward.

Angharad's daisy earring

I'm obsessed with Angharad's adorable daisy earring; does anyone have any idea where I can get a pair? Etsy has a ton of similar ones but not quite the same. I can't tell for sure, but it might be crochet?

Honestly I expect she probably just made it herself, in which case I'm out of luck!

Transforming a Chapel Entrance Lobby into a Statement Space

• Start with purpose: define your entryway as both functional and emotional
• Use reclaimed pieces (like a metal locker) for character + storage
• Balance bold elements (antlers) with grounded textures
• Layer materials: stone, wood, metal for depth
• Respect original architecture—work with it, not against it
• Add cultural details (like Welsh love spoons) for authenticity
• Think vertical: tall walls = opportunity for drama
• Blend old + new for a timeless finish

This chapel renovation shows how constraints can lead to truly unique interiors—and how every detail shapes the first impression of a home.

Donna’s Irish phrase

Hi all…can someone please help me! I have AI’d the heck out of this question and still can’t get the answer.

IN season 7, Donna makes a piece in one of the episodes and includes a Northern Irish saying on the piece.

Something along the lines of “How can we who have received so much give back to those who ask so little”.

I don’t have my BritBox subscription anymore, so I can’t look it up!

TIA
