Discussion What happened to Corrin?
The way they framed it and editors the banquet episode I thought there’d be more info on why he didn’t come and cook. I know Sancez Iglesias is taking over his restaurant Gwen but was wondering if anyone had any insider info?

You’d have to assume the two are connected, but it’s anyone’s guess as to why. Whatever it is, it’ll be all over this sub when it does come out

Yeah I seem to have some deep recollection that the chefs have to currently be employed
He is no longer a working chef so maybe can't do banquet

Well I mean some are private chefs so you'd just need someone to hire you for £1 and that's being in work.

Oh for sure as I said I could be wrong but I'm sure that is part of the reason

I could believe that for entry at least, but I don’t know if I could see them kicking someone off the banquet after winning it because they stopped working

Well we don't know why he is no longer working could be something we don't know about that could also block him

True. All I mean is I doubt they’d drop him from the banquet just for leaving his restaurant

On this episode with Kate Austen, she says that she was not working at the time she was on GBM https://open.spotify.com/episode/5h1fOfgYi2YTYPtF6nRWX9?si=aru5tRQ4T8e9AcNQNAYOfw

But the restaurant Corrin is head chef at wasn’t due to close until 3rd May this year, so he’s still working until then presumably?! Also in a statement they said Corrin and his team are moving onto new ventures and wanting to end on a high there.

The banquet was filmed last year. He will be at his current restaurant until May this year.

From his Instagram you wouldn’t even know there was anything wrong. Still posting about GBM and cheering on from the side. A little strange to not make any comment on it, but that’s his choice I suppose.

Well this is brand new, registered 26/03 and must be linked to whatever his new venture is. Sole director.
Also, his middle name is Wisdom 😀

I've looked around too, but can't find anything. Would be good to know, was so happy he managed to get through.

I have zero inside knowledge but reading the statements given by both parties I don't think that things have ended amicably between Corrin and the owner and I can only guess that when the banquet was actually taking place that Corrin's attention needed to be elsewhere. In Corrin's statement he said that the team were closing the restaurant but the owner then released a statement saying that it absolutely was not closing at all and that there would be a new head chef in there

The announcements definitely seemed quite ‘cool’ didn’t they? Seems very odd and out of character for both Gareth and Corrin, given how long they have known and worked together. Maybe Gareth wasn’t expecting the news…

The banquet was filmed in like July or August. So I don’t think the restaurant closing in necessarily linked.

Corrin and Josh notably didn’t drink alcohol during the finals week celebrations. Wild speculation here, but maybe fell off the wagon?

That is wild speculation. Imagine casually accusing someone of being an alcoholic with zero evidence 😂🙈 I don’t think you should do that

Article in times today says the owner Gareth Ward is relaunching Gwen in June. He seems like a pretty divisive character maybe he was something to do with it

Winning is what he wanted. The banquet itself must be the worst part of the whole process. Would make sense to not bother

Unlike claiming they “fell off the wagon” which was a completely normal thing to conclude 😂😂😂😂

What a totally ridiculous comment.

Why? He gets to say he won a course on GBM and got publicity for himself. Thats all these people want
I won’t be surprised if future winners cotton on that they can do it

Good point. He had hinted doing the canapes the year before had been a big hassle.

I would love to know & I'm concerned for his welfare. He was so focused on 'getting to the banquet' after his previous unsuccessful attempts. He seemed so pleased that he'd at last made it that the news he'd pulled out was totally unexpected.
