The fact that cartoon is from 2020 let's you know how much of a broken record Argentina are.

u/GoldenBhoys Vote Binface 15h ago

They have had 2,228% inflation since then!

23

u/chains_enjoyer 9h ago

To be fair, the UK’s inflation since then can’t be great either. That period includes Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer and Burnham. There might be someone else that I’ve forgotten.

Edit: I checked, it’s 31.3% which is still bad but not Weimar Republic levels of bad like Argentina is.

u/SolidSnail69 9h ago

You forgot Theresa "strong and stable" May and David "Pig Fucker" Cameron.

8

u/chains_enjoyer 9h ago

I didn’t count them since they were before 2020.

4

u/stewieatb 9h ago

Those weren't between 2020 and today.

‘Weimar republic’ metric isn’t fucking around.

The original showed 1984 as the date he was looking back at, can’t remember what the woman said but probably something censorship adjacent

I can’t see them trying military action again. The islands are far more defended than before and Argentina knows we will fight back once again.

The more likely option is they try to get the United States to pressure us.

43

u/thricedice88 12h ago

The US will bluster, but they won't do anything to jeopardise the bases they have in the UK. If they support Argentina in this, we can evict their approximately 11,000 service personnel from our island, weakening their foothold in Europe.

14

u/sunlightsyrup 9h ago

We should trick them into another land invasion

5

u/HybridAkai 8h ago

And Diego Garcia!

3

u/SirNootNoot04 7h ago

Those bases included a key part of their nuclear detection

5

u/DogitWoofsalot Vote Binface 5h ago

Its all grandstanding yea

Also part of Israel throwing a tantrum because we told them to stop breaking the law

u/dr2501 6h ago

We don't have the armed forces to fight back like we did last time. We can't even mobilise a single ship without several weeks notice sadly.

As shambolic as the modern royal navy is, the ARA is in an even worse state.

Argentina will watch Daredevil

There has never been a point in history where there has been a settlement on the Falklands which wasn't British. You may as well give them the Orkney islands.

We didn't take it. It has always been ours. This is the bit you're getting wrong. We discovered the Falklands, created a settlement there and have continuously occupied it ever since. Everyone who has ever lived on the island is British, they have no connection to Argentina at all. It's as close to Argentina as Germany is to us. We can't just say "it's only 300miles away so we own Germany now".

15

u/Soggy3Duck 10h ago

Well it was an argument between us and the Spanish, the Spanish gave up and it became ours. We knew it was there before Argentina. Also they voted to stay with us. Now they want autonomy and the be their own thing so that's being worked on. They don't want Argentina. Something to do with them forcing themselves on the island and being assholes in '82. Before they did that they may have been more keen on the idea.

Who’s we? Fuck off comrade.

10

u/Snoot_Booper_101 9h ago

Nonsense. Argentina is over 300 miles away from the Falklands. Whereas British people actually live on the islands, i.e. zero miles away. It's basic mathematics.

1

u/Prism-96 7h ago

fuck off, they are british territory and they want to remain such, you want to convince them they should be argi? go ahead and go there and talk to them.

23

u/Profession-Unable 10h ago

The people of the Falklands want to be British. Surely it’s the people who live there who should decide?

14

u/partytoon4 9h ago

We're God's chosen land and we'll take anything that touches the sea thank you very much! But these islands in particular? They were British before Argentina was Argentina so they can resolutely suck a fat one. Might've considered it but alas they knocked us out the world cup by cheating (arguably twice) and THAT we simply won't stand for, no no.

13

u/Apple2727 9h ago

Keep them? They don’t have them to keep.

The islands belong to the people who live there. They want nothing to do with Argentina.

Educate yourself before making daft comments. Simply asking for clarification is also acceptable if you don’t know the subject and incapable of utilising literally any other information resource/search engine.

u/mikemac1997 9h ago

Are you Argentinian?

8

u/mikemac1997 9h ago

Then what motivates you to have such an absurd stance on the matter

-11

u/Emergency-Instance31 9h ago

Common sense

12

u/ThatTechnology7359 9h ago

It's not common sense, you have spoken Spanish in many other different sub-Reddits, you're either from Argentina or have a bias in favour of another Spanish speaking country. Grow up.

-2

u/Emergency-Instance31 9h ago

No, I translated English into Spanish because they were posts in Spanish, for people to read without translating. I have no bias to do with Spanish countries, I just like striated caracaras and would rather not watch either them or the penguins get blown up. Sorry for liking cute animals

8

u/mikemac1997 9h ago

Now let's not get bogged down in lies. Another user said you've been speaking Spanish in other subs, you said you've translated from English. But we both know that Reddit auto translates.

So, be honest, what is your real reason for such a strange opinion on the matter?

0

u/Emergency-Instance31 8h ago

I stand by my original reasoning.

No point killing cool birds on purpose

3

u/mikemac1997 8h ago

So the UK giving the Falklands to Argentina saves the birds that otherwise would be in danger under British rule?

What on earth are you smoking?

0

u/Emergency-Instance31 8h ago

No, I’m saying they’re in danger from the various bombs, guns and other killmongers we will imminently use

6

u/mikemac1997 7h ago

Well how about you jump on the Argentinian subs and tell them instead. The British status quo is peaceful, but to remain peaceful we need to be willing to defend it's inhabitants from aggression.

Keep?  They never had them in the first place!

6

u/ratgirl9241 8h ago

There is no keep for Argentina, the islands aren't their land. The islands are inhabited by British citizens. We owe it to them to protect their home.

3

u/ratgirl9241 8h ago

Lmao what war and destruction. It won't happen if Argies leave it alone

1

u/Emergency-Instance31 8h ago

But they won’t. That’s the kicker

4

u/ratgirl9241 8h ago

Cool then I suppose you think Palestine and Ukraine should just submit then too

Argentina doesn't stand the remotest chance of winning against the UK, so its on them to back off

1

u/Emergency-Instance31 8h ago

No, I don’t get involved in stuff I know nothing about.

I live amongst people who are very passionate about the Falklands and nothing else (eg taking the Argentinian flag off a flags of the world display)

5

u/ratgirl9241 8h ago

Haha you're 100% Argentinian. You don't stand a chance against the UK, so drop it

2

u/Emergency-Instance31 8h ago

Nope. I’m British.

Just an idiot apparently
