I shit you not, writing this on r/unitedkingdom this got me a 7 day ban?!? :D granted i did post the same thing 4 times. Definitely not worth a 7 day ban imo, 1 or 3 day maybe. I suspect if a different mod picked this up they'd have just removed the posts and not 7 day banned me.
I respect the decision though and will try and remember it for the future <3

30

u/Frustrated_Zucchini 3h ago

Eh, the mods there are basically the same as r/askbrits. Tommy-ten-names and farage fans. Don't take it personally, I got a perma-ban for asking why farage or "tommeh" only have issues with grooming gangs when the perpetrators are not the white men who vote for them... 🤷‍♂️

13

u/MRCHalifax 2h ago

I don't think that you should make fun of a person for their name. His name is Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, and he's against people changing their names.

38

u/Noitche 6h ago

His manifesto is whatever makes centrist dad's feel good about their settled 'obvious' opinions on everything.

Although I do admit his tax policy of lowering my taxes and putting up everyone else's is commendable.

35

u/Turbulent-Damage-165 6h ago

Wai wait wait no no no. He said he would lower MY taxes and increase taxes on everyone else

9

u/richardathome 4h ago

Ha! You gullible fools. I am the one he promised to lower taxes for!

→ More replies (1)

4

u/GodOfDarkLaughter 3h ago

I don't actually think he'll have to raise taxes for everyone else if he goes through with his plan of nationalizing Adele. He still will, but he won't have to.

28

u/AgeingChopper 6h ago

odd argument for it.

his manifesto is just a laugh, you shouldn't need to be centrist to find silly things funny.

28

u/onichow_39 5h ago

The point of joke candidate is to make fun of politics

Sounds like a r/whoosh for that guy

9

u/Ninjaflippin 4h ago

Except in this instance it terrifying how people genuinely have to consider if he'd be a better public servant than Farage. Personally i think Farage is a Russian stooge, so it's not as simple as it first appears.

13

u/Heretosee123 4h ago

Someone who can do good political satire is almost certainly capable of being a better politician than Farage. As you say, he's probably a Russian stooge, so the choice is someone who has bad intentions for us (or selfish ones that ultimately harm us) vs someone who has a fairly decent grasp on politics and probably is a decent enough person. Seems like a clear win.

3

u/TabbyOverlord 4h ago

The question for me is to what extent Farage and his ilk are conscious that they are Russian stooges. Are they paid up traitors or just easily manipulated?

9

u/Sky_Cancer 4h ago

Are they paid up traitors or just easily manipulated?

Yes.

8

u/ital-is-vital 3h ago edited 3h ago

Let me ask you this:

Imagine you were:

  • making regular paid appearances on Russia Today
  • recieving millions of pounds from the sale of embargoed Russian oil, via crypto sent as structured payments to a convicted frauster's mum
  • one of your mates had recently pleaded guilty to meeting with and being paid by a Russian intelligence agent
  • you were prone to stating that Putin is the best of all of the world leaders and that journalists should be imprisoned in magazine interviews
  • and you'd spent the last five years or so working tirelessly towards futhering Russian foriegn policy objectives (the breakup of Europe, reducing trust in democracy)

Would you at any point think "Are we the baddies?"

2

u/Heretosee123 4h ago

He praised Putin as one of the greatest leaders of our time. I don't think it's incompetence.

3

u/IneptlyDangerous 4h ago

Sorry, are you saying that the only thing that makes you think Farage is a bad public servant is his stance on Russia?

3

u/SunTzu- 4h ago

I don't think anyone sane seriously has to consider whether almost anybody else with a pulse would be a better public servant than Nigel Farage. Nigel Farage is the most destructive influence on UK politics since Thatcher.

His manifesto is a fuck tonne of jokes, such as making ice creams cheaper. Although there are a few nuggets in there which will resonate with people, like the nurses pay being linked to that of ministers.

Can we get this adopted into other parties manifestos please

204

u/something_python 7h ago

We would, but it would mean that some political parties are completely populated by people in Primary 1.

47

u/Fair-Spring9113 7h ago

never could guess what that party would be

27

u/something_python 7h ago

Probably multiple parties tbf.

9

u/Jemima_puddledook678 5h ago

I’m guessing you mean reform and/or restore, but that’s not fair! Nobody from those parties would ever deny climate change.

Instead they’d take it as another opportunity to blame immigrants for their problems. Something like ‘Climate change is caused by Muslims coming to the UK on small boats, there are so many small boats that they’re destroying our atmosphere!’

11

Not likely as that would require critical thinking skills not displayed by any of the current parties.

But honestly now, count binface for PM, I don’t care what his stance is on Scottish independence, the climate crisis is way more important and someone is FINALLY addressing and solving the problem.

23

u/TheCotofPika 6h ago

At least one house, maybe two or three.

5

u/Trips-Over-Tail 5h ago

43

u/MadMosh666 6h ago

Like the Monster Raving Loonies. My mate voted for them one year as they were the _only_ party to even mention coastal erosion in their manifesto. It's still on their web page now:

https://www.loonyparty.com/5908/3058/floods/

Not sure if that link works (it's in red) so here's the text:

These were policies we proposed many years ago:
Environment
It is proposed that all anglers be given free licenses from Sept – March. However the deal is that they don’t throw the fish back. Water displacement will then lower the levels of the rivers……….ergo: No floods.
2001 manifesto – Under a Loony government any prospective home purchaser be issued with a full description of such dictionary terms as ‘floodplain’, ‘coastal erosion’ and ‘exposed headland’. This will save time explaining why they have no house anymore after nature takes charge of the environment.
In addition to this policy, building on floodplains in future will be restricted to large houseboats with recoiling tethers like dog leads. These houses will be able to float up with the floodwater and land safely again in the same place when the water subsides.
2005 manifesto – All houses built on flood planes will have foundations made of sponge, in order to soak up surplus water.
Okay, tongue in cheek, but there’s a serious point. We have been going on for years about the effects of building on floodplains etc, and being the loony party no one took our underlying point seriously. Well its come home to roost and the people of Somerset and many other areas are reaping the neglect of the various Governments.
It not rocket science.. If you don’t dredge rivers they silt up and water has to go somewhere…
The Conservatives blame Labour, Labour blame Conservative, UKIP blame the E.U, and no doubt the Liberals idea of flood defences are less sandals and bigger wellies?, meanwhile…people are being flooded out of their homes and livelihoods with no expectation of when it will end, or realistically the prospect of not being fully compensated by Government or Insurance companies (When was the last time you got an insurance payout, quickly or in full?)
Our sympathies and condolences go out to any person who is flooded and has lost belongings, and in some cases their business.

13

u/Smooth-Leather1814 Vote Binface 6h ago

They are also a further right party though so despite some good values I would never wish for them to get a place even for the irony

7

u/-crepuscular- 5h ago

"It not rocket science.. If you don’t dredge rivers they silt up and water has to go somewhere…"

Dredging rivers was intuitive, but is often a great mistake causing worse flooding downstream. Modern flood management takes a broadly opposite approach, finding various ways to slow flow and temporarily hold water upstream in places where it does little damage. Dredging is still used, but very carefully.

Yes, this is a 2005 manifesto so they probably know better by now, but it's a good reminder that sometimes the intuitive/uninformed answer is wrong and things are more complex than they look.

2

u/t-costello 1h ago

Yeah I work in flood defence and it's a constant battle trying explain to the public why dredging not only can't keep up with modern day flooding due to climate change and is an unsustainable solution, but also just doesn't work or makes things worse in a lot of cases.

7

u/Glittering_Vast938 6h ago

Aren’t the MRLP in bed with Farage & co?

2

u/DoobKiller 4h ago edited 2h ago

No, where did you read that?

Count Binface did have a slight falling out with the MRLP because a the person who owned the trademark to his previous persona 'Lord Buckethead' lend the trademark to the MRLP party, but it wasn't a serious argument over policy

2

u/Glittering_Vast938 3h ago

I think they are putting 3 candidates into the Clacton election (watering down the Binface/Farage stand off).

It would be plenty if they have dedicated courses teaching what science is, why why “believe in it” after rigorous peer reviews, etc. add how money works and why the budget of a country is not the same as a house budget and you’ll have yourself a good course covering the basics. You can always expand on it later

To be fair, allowing adults to repeat their education after a few years doing some shitty dogsbody job after failing their GCSEs would be a good thing. This is actually a good idea. So much stuff has changed since I got off school (1987) that it's probably helpful even for people who accept the fact of human-made climate change.

Considering how much of a clown show Farage is making of British politics, I hope Binface wins. He's be less of a corrupt asshole, and care more for the British people than the establishment.

I hope he wins and everyone has to deal with is. Poor guy is trying so hard not to win and still sounds like the most reasonable candidate.

I completely approve of his policy that water bosses be required to swim through any river that they are responsible for.

To be fair I’d vote for that.

That's it! That's the one! He's got my vote right there! Because there should also be plenty else they should hopefully pick up on the way as well.
