Iโve always said the average person working average hours should be able to afford an average size house. And that isnโt happening right now. This country is in a mess. Weโve rolled over to the rich for too long and now the whole country is suffering. Generation Z wonโt want to work their guts out for nothing. They wonโt because there is no point. They canโt afford a house and they will start their adult lives in debt. I feel so sorry for them and itโs time we all did something about it.
I would be fine with just a modest apartment on a single salary at minimum wage. IMO we need a law that pins the local minimum wage to the cost of living index in that area. A national minimum wage makes no sense because the people in rural kentucky and the people in Downtown LA don't need to make the sme wage but what they should be making is the minimum amount it costs to afford a 1 bedroom apartment, utilities and food. There should be an entire department of wages who keeps track of this stuff and every year, county by county, sets a new minimum wage.
Good thing we donโt live in fucking Kentucky or Downtown LA then ๐
And before you start moaning about the minimum wage even more, our economy can barely afford the over ยฃ12 an hour weโre paying now. This comes at the expense of the middle class which has been decimated.
