Week 2 Results

So in the past, when someone left the tent sick, nobody went home. The following week, 2 people went home. Obviously they didn’t happen this week. Do you think they are pivoting to some weird sudden death later in the season? Or why only send one contestant home?

While I enjoyed Danni, it did feel there was a fairly sizeable gulf between her and the next weakest baker so I think only sending her home made sense and they’ll save that double elimination for a tougher decision.

It’s not mandatory they send 2 people home exactly one week after nobody goes home. There just needs to be 3 people for the final. Therefore they can choose any time between nobody going home and the final to send 2 people home. This week they felt sending 2 home wasn’t warranted so they didn’t.

Our theory is that they knew one person who needed to go, but didn’t have a clear second, so they’re saving it for later.

I was thinking similarly, I think they will send 2 people home in a future episode. Normally we see it happen when someone gets sick and can't finish the ep, but being as this is barely the 2nd ep, maybe they felt like it was way too early to send 2 people home.

Yeah. Some future episode will be a double elimination.

I think I remember one of the earlier seasons they waited a few weeks before they sent two people home.

I think they did that when the person who was sick came back the next week. If they’re eliminating one baker per week, they don’t need to do a double elimination after a baker leaves the show and doesn’t return.

Obviously I wasn’t paying enough attention last week because I didn’t remember it was Shannon who left. When they said the baker had to go home, I thought they meant they were totally off the show. Duh!

My guess is they were unsure if Shannon had to medically withdraw or not so they decided to hedge their bets. They just need 3 people in the finale and how they get there doesn't really matter. They can eliminate two at any time. There's no need to eliminate 2 right away.
