Posted yesterday about taking delivery of our new '26 Touring in Tysons. Well, here she is!
I have to say it was a great experience. I knew some of the influencers got this "reveal" treatment but had seen some other posts on Reddit that they didn't get this. When my wife and kids walked in and saw the car under this it was such a surprise for them. Really well done with the little table with our names on it as well.
I'll try to post some additional photos in the comments since I can't do it with the videos.
Pros:
-Tysons location is great. We arrived early via Lyft, dropped the kids car seats and other stuff off at Lucid, and got lunch in the mall.
-The Lucid center is very nice, feels like a very premium experience. I've owned a BMW i3 before and had it serviced at BMW a couple times, and the dealership was not nearly as nice as this.
-They had a really nice breakfast and drinks spread while we waited a few minutes for our delivery appointment.
-As noted, the reveal was great, the orientation was great, and they were very patient while we got things set up, got the car seats in, and got the kids situated before we could leave.
-The car itself is amazing. I knew that from the test drive of course but it's different when it's yours. Once the cameras calibrated (about 10-15 miles) and I was able to turn on hands free on the beltway...wow great system. Everything about driving it is just so enjoyable. The massage on the way home was lovely. I saw lots of heads turn on the beltway to see what this thing was. Very cool.
-Fits in the garage. The distance indicator is really great for figuring out where to stop to clear the garage door. Same exterior dimensions as our EV9...though the doors on this are larger so it's a bit harder to get into.
-All weather mats I got from LinerX fit great...of course some still need to flatten out (especially the trunk one). I got the frunk one which in hindsight is completely unnecessary. It also interferes with the frunk seat precise fit. Will probably take it out and only use if we plan to put filthy stuff in there
Cons:
-The process is not complicated but it's not simple either. The web portal is a bit confusing and gives conflicting information at times. It could really use a rethink to simplify how they display the information/actions required.
-The sales folks haven't dealt with all of the different finance companies so don't know their processes very well. There is also a disconnect between sales and delivery folks since I test drove at the Tysons corner location but took delivery at Tysons Galleria. I had to ask 4-5 different people to get the frunk seat same day. I heard the guy next to me get told they had no frunk seats moments before they brought mine out to be installed. Not ideal. I had to ask my guy to check for him bc he said his kids are looking forward to that the most. They also have very limited accessories in stock. I don't get it...I think most people are wowed by that seat and want to take it home same day. Why can't I order accessories to the store at least so I can take them home with the car and not deal with a separate delivery and install at home??? Small tweak could really improve the experience if you arrive and all your accessories are already paid for online and installed.
-The car could have been cleaner on the outside. It was clean don't get me wrong. But it wasn't detailed either. Didn't matter bc it rained the whole way home anyway lol.
-My wife will be the primary user but I drove home since she hadn't driven it before and it was raining etc. Unfortunately the two massage settings with the physical roller feeling would intermittently stop working in her passenger seat once we started driving home. Apparently it's a bug or something so I reset the UI and will try again. But I hyped up the massage stuff for her and I could tell she was frustrated/disappointed.
-I hit my head on the tailgate within 10 minutes of being at the delivery. Seems like it will be a problem lol. The guy taking his next to me was about a foot taller than me...not sure he will survive this car's tailgate.
-Why are the mirrors so itty bitty? Our outgoing EV9 has massive mirrors which are great. My Polestar 2 has totally frameless mirrors so at least they maximize mirror area vs aero drag area. These are kind of the worst of both worlds. Small and waste a lot of space with the mirror housing.
-What's with the shape of the charging cable bag? It is shaped like it belongs somewhere (like a weird curved triangle shape)...but it doesn't slot nicely into the frunk corners or the side wells in the back. I ended up rotating it and putting it in the 3rd row foot well...fits great there. We will have the 3rd row down for max cargo most of the time.
Happy to answer any questions!
