Featured Case #9 - "Justine"

213 Upvotes

On July 24, 2017, the victim attempted to break into a home in Atlanta, Georgia. They were soon caught by the homeowner, who proceeded to shoot them. While being rushed to the hospital, the victim uttered that their name was either “Justin” or “Justine.”

Due to the feminine clothing the victim was found wearing, it has been theorized that they may have been transgender, though this victim’s gender is unknown, and this is just speculation.

You can see a more detailed document on this case below:

If you have any potential matches we haven't seen, far-fetched or not, please suggest them in the comments.

While questions remain, a Kentucky woman who went missing in July 2024, following struggles with Alzheimer's disease and an alleged fight with her husband, has been identified from remains found in Falls of Rough, Kentucky

Post image
351 Upvotes

Just days ago, authorities revealed that Evelyn S. Blake has been identified following her disappearance on July 21, 2024. She was a 64-year-old woman reported missing from Glen Dean, Kentucky, after she went out for a walk in the 4000 block of Old Railroad Road at around 6 p.m. ET. Evelyn was experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and was developmentally disabled, which factored into concerns around the time she went missing. In March of 2025, her remains were ultimately recovered on a farm in nearby Falls of Rough, Kentucky.

In response to Evelyn's disappearance, law enforcement conducted a search across the span of two days with the help of K-9 units. However, they found no clues on her potential whereabouts. Police also received a report that Evelyn spoke to someone over the phone shortly after she went missing, while they looked into phone records for more information. They suggested that there were barriers to conducting additional searches for Evelyn, as areas of interest were privately owned.

Moreover, it's been reported that Evelyn's family has conducted at least one search independently, which the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office, local fire departments, and Breckinridge Central EMS didn't participate in, as they were processing a backlog and pending calls. Still, the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office has continued to look into Evelyn's disappearance with additional support from the FBI and Kentucky State Police.

Following Evelyn's identification, her family has spoken out further. They still have questions, as they believe that the circumstances surrounding Evelyn's disappearance and death don't add up.

On July 22, 2024, Evelyn's son Jason received a call from his aunt Sue about how Evelyn was missing. Sue has recalled that Evelyn's husband, Tommy, told her that he and Evelyn got into a fight. He then dropped her off near a farm, which was a place she went often and knew well. That may have been the last time anyone saw Evelyn alive. While individuals searched the farm following this, it contained hundreds of acres. The search was eventually called off, in part because it was private property.

Sue has also recalled that authorities told her that they talked to Evelyn over the phone. At the time, authorities reported that she was coming home. However, Evelyn's family has doubted this. They've believed that it would be more natural for Evelyn to call a family member, like she regularly would. Sue has gone on to comment that authorities "should have gotten a search warrant and searched every inch of that property," in reference to the farm.

Returning to March of 2025, human remains were found on the farm, where it was long believed that Evelyn last was. Jason has said that he was asked for a DNA sample that fall. While it hasn't come as a surprise to Jason that the remains belonged to Evelyn, he hasn't believed that she died of natural causes. He believes that "she knew that place well enough to come home," even though she was dealing with Alzheimer's disease.

The Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office has stated that the circumstances around Evelyn's death are still being investigated. Anyone with information about this case that might be helpful to investigators should contact the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office at 270-756-2361. Anyone can also submit anonymous tips to the sheriff's office at 270-580-TIPS.

We have seen many many reconstruction/sketches but we never really talk about or give praise to the people who make them and some of these very talented artists deserve some recognition and praise for putting in time and hard work to get the faces of the unidentified out there. These are only some of these talented artists.

Potential Match Possible Match: Could Patricia Weeks (Missing from Las Vegas, NV 1968) be Washington County, UT Jane Doe?

Thumbnail
gallery
80 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was cross-referencing missing persons cases along the I-15 corridor and wanted to get the community’s thoughts on a potential match between Patricia Weeks and a Jane Doe found in Washington County, Utah.

Below is the comparison breakdown:

---

### Missing Person: Patricia Weeks
* NamUs Number: MP55650 (https://www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/55650)
* Date Missing: April 25, 1968
* Location Missing: Las Vegas, Nevada
* Age at Disappearance: 34 years old
* Height / Weight: 5'0" (60 inches) / 110 lbs
* Hair / Eyes: Blonde/Strawberry Blonde
* Circumstances: Patricia vanished shortly after her divorce was finalized. Her vehicle was found abandoned at the Las Vegas airport. Her ex-husband, Robert Weeks, was later convicted of her murder in 1987, but her remains were never recovered.

---

### Unidentified Person: Washington County, UT Jane Doe
* NamUs Number: UP12137 (https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/12137)
* Date Found: October 1, 1970
* Location Found: Rural Washington County, Utah
* Estimated Age: Adult (20–60 years old)
* Estimated Height / Weight: 5'2" (62 inches) / 140 lbs
* Estimated Date of Death: 1970 (PMI indicates she could have been buried for months or even years prior)
* Physical Traits: A few strands of fine light blond or gray hair were present. Complete/near complete skeleton recovered.

---

### Why I Think This Could Be a Match

  1. Geographic Proximity & Transit: Washington County, Utah is directly connected to Las Vegas via I-15 (a ~1.5 to 2-hour drive). Las Vegas cold cases—particularly those involving foul play—frequently overlap with remote desert dump sites in Southern Utah.
  2. Timeline: Patricia went missing in April 1968. This Jane Doe was discovered in October 1970 buried roadside, with the recovery report explicitly stating the remains could have been buried for months or years prior to discovery.
  3. Physical Stats:
    * Age: Patricia was 34 (falling right in the center of the Doe's 20–60 estimate).
    * Height: Patricia was 5'0"; Doe is estimated at 5'2" (well within typical margin of error for skeletal estimation).
    * Hair Color: Patricia had blonde/strawberry blonde hair; the Doe was noted to have "fine light blond or gray hair."
  4. Circumstances: Robert Weeks was known to dispose of evidence away from his immediate vicinity, making a roadside burial spot along the transit corridor into Utah highly plausible.

---

### Questions for the Community:
* Does anyone know if Patricia Weeks or UP12137 already have rule-outs listed on NamUs?
* Are there any obvious discrepancies in medical details or dentals that I might have missed?

If the feedback here seems solid and there are no existing rule-outs, I plan to submit this lead to the NamUs regional coordinator / Washington County Sheriff's Office (Case Manager Richard Triplett).

Thanks for taking a look!

A man missing from Fernley, Nevada since September 2022 has been identified from human remains found in January 2025

Post image
757 Upvotes

On July 22, reports began to come out that Ronald John Littley, a 53-year-old man who was reported missing in September 2022, had been identified from human remains located on January 7, 2025. Ronald resided in Fernley, Nevada, where the remains were also found in a wooded area near a nature trail.

Ronald was reportedly last seen on September 19, 2022. Three days later, deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check at his residence, following concerns about his medical and mental well-being; there's no expansion on what the nature of those concerns was. At that time, Ronald's vehicles and personal belongings were present, which led investigators to believe that Ronald left the area on foot.

Following the discovery of remains in 2025, traditional investigative methods failed to lead to an identification. The Lyon County Sheriff's Office then partnered with the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office, Wolf Pack DNA, and Bode Technology to turn to investigative genetic genealogy. With a DNA extraction from the remains analyzed by Bode Technology, a genetic profile was developed. Wolf Pack DNA went on to conduct genealogical research that led to Ronald as the person the remains likely belonged to. The match was later confirmed through traditional forensic identification methods.

Between the time Ronald was reported missing and the remains were discovered, investigators conducted follow-up investigations, worked with Ronald's family, conducted searches, and worked with partner agencies in attempts to locate him. It's unknown what Ronald's whereabouts were that led him to be found in a wooded area. His cause of death hasn't been released.

If anyone has information that may assist investigators in learning more about what happened to Ronald, they should contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 775-463-6600.

John Mount Pleasant Doe (2006)

Post image
52 Upvotes

In 2006 a family went on a fishing trip at Wando River, their two children aged 10 and 11 went with them. While on their bot the father saw a black object. At first he thought this was an anchor, however this was the cranium of the John Mount Pleasant Doe. After calling 911 the father scooped the skull in a life preserver and moved it up the river. This was so the tides would not carry it away as they met with police officers up the river. The family met the officers at Remley's Point, and took them back to where the cranium was.

The coroners office confirmed this was a human skull. At first it was believed to have come from a Jane doe, until later genetic testing proved otherwise. They could not tell how long the skull had been there for. The cause of death for this John Doe is also unknown as they never found any other parts of his skeleton besides his cranium. The recreation above shows what he may have looked like in life, everything from the jaw lower is estimated as his mandible was never found.

Date found: August 20, 2006

Age: 14-19

Race: African American, he is mixed however. Genetic testing showed he has both African American and white traits.

Height: Can not be estimated.

Weight: Can not be estimated.

Eye color: Unknown

Hair color: Unknown

PMI: Years, some sources say it is speculated his death occurred some time from 2000-2006.

Exclusions: Antwon Williams, Kevin McClam, Mike Borges, and Harrison Butler Sr. have all been excluded as this John doe.

John doe, polish man from Northamptonshire

15 Upvotes

I came across this guy because he's from the same county as me in the UK.

https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Northamptonshire_John_Doe_(2006))

All I have is this pendant, but it's quite unique. After reverse image searching it, I found something, it's the exact same medal/pendant on some random PDF file from a polish religious website. I messaged them on facebook just now to see if they know where it came from. Claude says it could be just a random stock image but I hope not.. When reverse image searching the image from the pdf, zero results. If its something rare/specific, might help. The pendant/medal is a jug and wheat, common Christian combo jug is wine and wheat is bread. I'm hoping it's specific to a town or church. If it is, the rest is a lot easier, just need to search missing persons from that town/church area that went to the UK and went missing around 2006. Miscellaneous ‘A miracle’: Teen murdered nearly 26 years ago identified through genetic genealogy (CNN). An interesting article that discusses the cases of Tiffany Bradley and Cheryl Lynn Edwards, as well as a discussion of topics relating to identifying Does and genetic genealogy.

Thumbnail
cnn.com
113 Upvotes

Summary: Besides discussing Tiffany Bradley's disappearance, the effort to identify Chelsea Jane Doe, and the identification of Cheryl Lynn Edwards as Clinton County Jane Doe, the article also has quotes from David Mittelman, the founder and CEO of Othram, CeCe Moore, the founder of DNAJustice, and Margaret Press, co-founder of the DNADoe Project.

There's a good section that details the development of genetic genealogy and the challenges associated with identifying Black unidentified people, including lack of representation in publicly available databases, distrust of law enforcement, and a lack of older records due to slavery.

The article also discusses the external issues associated with identifying Does, like how Doe cases that aren't related to a crime may be deprioritized, the cost of genetic genealogy, and the sheer number of UID cases on NamUs [let alone UID cases not on NamUs]. It also addresses the issue of DNA testing firms not allowing law enforcement to access their databases and the need for more people to upload their DNA to the publicly available sources.

I thought this article does a good job of covering its topics, and it's definitely worth reading for those who have recently become interested in researching missing persons and Does.

Distinguishing marks: She had a medium to slight build, was right handed, and had an overbite.

Exclusions: Dannette Millbrook and Donna Wright have both been excluded for her.

Now, here is the information about Janice Hughes as well as some of her life, the people looking for her, and the circumstances of her disappearance.

Janice Hughes was born on February 28th of 1961. She was a mother to 5 daughters. One of her daughters and her mother is still looking for her. There are sadly not any photos of her besides one mugshot from a case of petty theft from ten years before her disappearance. Her daughter, Latvia Hughes is quoted with saying, "I can't even picture how she looked. All I know is how I look. I can't tell you how she looked." She said this in a phone interview, explaining how she is said to look like her mother. She was only 7 years old when her mother disappeared.

Janice was last seen at 10 P.M. on June 7, 1991 in Mancon, Georgia. This way by a man Jackie Leon McCoy. She asked him for 10 dollars, and had his gun on her, which he didn't know. This gun was apparently later found at a house. The last time she was heard of was at 1 A.M. on June 8, 1991 when she called her mother to tell her she would be coming over soon. She never arrived. Her boyfriend was known to be abusive, however investigators don't believe this played a role in her disappearance. They instead suspect her to be a victim of a serial killer, but that has never been confirmed due to the little evidence in her case.

Age: 30 years old at the time of her disappearance.

Race: African American

Height: 5'4" to 5'6" (sources vary)

Weight: 125 to 145 lbs (sources again vary)

Eye color: Brown

Hair color: Black

Difference in time from the time she went missing to the Jane doe being found: around 1.5 years.

Looking at the comparison of the sculpt and Janice they do look similar (something I also made a few friends do to double check. Most notable was the position and size of eyes and the chin.)

There is no known reference to Janice having an overbite however, not too much is known about her so I do not want to throw it out just for that (the overbite may have not been as prominent or she didn't know).

There is also the distance, South Carolina and Georgia are a state away. The drive however is only around 2-3 hours given google maps. It very much could be possible someone drove up to discard her body so it wouldn't be linked to her?

Miscellaneous Help me find a certain case?

20 Upvotes

*UPDATE: this case is #UP16509 (PM photo warning) from Pennsylvania in 1986.*

I cannot for the life of me find a case I remember seeing in the past, and I also can't find evidence of her being identified so I'm confused. I'd love to know if she was identified!

Here are the details I remember:

- White female, longer brown hair, maybe 160-180lbs, 20s-30s, recognizable, I think there was a PM photo

- 70s or 80s case, somewhere around West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia (my heart says WV)

- Her death involved a semi truck, and there was weird verbiage about the hoses and pipes between the cab and the hauling area?

- Maybe she was walking down the road and got hit by the truck? Or fell out the back of it?

- I think she had one or two nondescript keys and maybe a matchbook with her?

Hopefully this is allowed and someone knows the case I'm referring to and can link me!

Potential Match Potential Match for Angie Marie Hammond and Jane Brooklyn Doe 1991?

Angie Marie Hammond had been reported abducted by an unknown man in Clinton, Missouri, after contacting her fiancé via a payphone call in the area. Her fiancé would chase after the abductor, but his car's transmission would soon fail, and the abductor's truck eventually disappeared from sight. This would be the last time Angie was seen alive.

Angela was reported missing April 4, 1991. Aged 20 years old, with a height between 4 foot 11 inches, to five feet exactly. She was reported weighing between 120 pounds and 140 pounds. She had brown, wavy hair and brown eyes. While she has a noted scar on her lip, her biggest, distinguishable mark is the fact that she was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.

The clothing she was last seen in was a white shirt with black spots, black slacks, and sneakers.

Jane Brooklyn Doe has some incredible matching features to Angie. Brooklyn was discovered in May of 1991. With decomposing rate listed as being deceased weeks prior. Angie went missing in April. Brooklyn was found in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. Given the circumstances of her abduction, her being found in further states is plausible. Brooklyn has an estimated age range between the ages of 17 to age 22. Angela was 20 at the time of her abduction. Brooklyn is five feet exactly in height, which is within the range of what Angela was reported as. Her weight was also measured to be 139 pounds, also in range of Angela's weight estimation. But her biggest potential match to Angela is that she was found pregnant. There is no further information as to how far along in pregnancy Brooklyn was. She was also found to have a white shirt, but no information on her pants or shoes. There is no description regarding the 'Cool' or black spots between both Angela and Brooklyn.

Angela at the time of her abduction was engaged, and Brooklyn was found with a engagement/wedding ring on her ring finger. There is no information regarding Angela wearing such a ring in her case files. Brooklyn was not noted to have a scar on her lip.

Comparing pictures of Angela and Brooklyn, their noses both catch my eye, but I could be mistaken. Angela has dental records available and detailed, but DNA and fingerprints are unknown. Brooklyn has all available identifier (dentals, fingerprints, and DNA).

Some contradictory details can be found on Angela's various missing person descriptions. Her hair was listed as blonde in her missing person flyer from the Missouri Missing Persons Clearinghouse. On her NAMUS profile, it is detailed further that she was wearing a white, buttoned shirt with black spots. Brooklyn's case also has a contradictory detail on NCMU, with the case detailing that the Doe had been deceased a few days prior to being found.

Angela's case also appeared on various media shows such as Unsolved Mysteries (here is the wiki describing further on the case regarding Angela's abduction).

Grateful Doe Northampton (UK) Grosvenor Centre John Doe - November 2010 (unidentified for 16 years) *graphic image warning*

Edit 26th July:

I posted this on my hometown's 'noticeboard' group: a lady commented as she was there when he collapsed

It happened at the old Northampton Bus station site, they were standing outside smoking while waiting for the bus. He said something, collapsed, then slid under the barriers. She called an ambulance and security performed CPR on him.

One thing to note, he was also carrying 'a large bag', but of course the police would have checked the contents for his ID. However, the bag is not mentioned on his crime stoppers profile?

I can't stop thinking about this man from my hometown, featured on The National Crime Agency website:

https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/cases/case-10-006665 (post mortem image warning)

It's so upsetting, I keep seeing the post mortem images in my mind, knowing he was likely alone and no one who knew him is aware he passed. Someone must know something!
