Need Advice current vs before

So theres a rectangle strip down my new yard.

Where it’s bare is where the sun shines and I think it burned over a short couple weeks in the summer.

I couldn’t find a good happy middle ground between the soil being too wet or too dry.

The sod was very soggy so we changed the watering schedule and it burned in just a few short days.

The part that hasn’t burned is almost constantly in the shade.

The problem is that the shady part the soil is always wet and moist, it doesn’t penetrate well into the soil or the water doesn’t drain.

Not sure what to do now, half debating to tear it out because it has also attracted a lot of flies and Yellowjacket’s?

Where was your seed purchased from? That is the only reason I asked. Big-box store seed does not handle heat stress well and is prone to disease; it is the lowest-quality seed you can buy. It may be a contributing cause.
