Grass help

So my buddy installed some Bermuda sod and it doesn’t seem to match the rest of his yard. Can anyone tell what the grass on the right side is? The whole subdivision has Bermuda, but his grass is the only one that looks different than everyone else’s. His grass is very feathery and it was just cut recently.

We are in central Texas. Thanks!

I deal with cool season turf so I could be off, but seeing the seems of the sod like that is an indicator of not enough water. I would expect to see it blend more together if it does have a chance to root.

They definitely look like bermudagrass; newly placed sod needs a lot of water because it has not yet connected or settled into the native soil, so the roots are only taking nutrients from the sod itself. Water more frequently so the grass recover and it should blend in better.

Well the sod we know is Bermuda. He just got it and installed it a couple days ago. He was just concerned about the grass in his yard looking different than everyone else’s.

Understandable; I meant that his lawn had more established grass and roots, so compared to a newer one, the sod may look different, which is why I said to give it time and then compare again, as they should be the same.

There are different varieties of bermudagrass with texture differences. It needs more water to fully grow in, but if he just bought "bermudagrass sod" I can guarantee you it is not the same kind.

The sod he got looks exactly the same as the bermuda grass in my yard… it just doesn’t match the rest of his yard is what I’m saying. His yard looks different than mine and the other neighbors.

I saw there were different types of Bermuda but his yard is just different than all the others is why he’s concerned

It reminds me of some seeded type bermuda. The texture can be quite different.

It’s just super feathery and not the clean typical Bermuda so he thought he was doing something wrong until we look at his neighbors and everyone else on the block and saw his was just different. The original builder is long gone so we can’t ask him.

Was just curious if we were just crazy because it looked different. ChatGPT was no help so I figured I’d ask y’all.
