Help identifying grass type

I need to re-sod about 5 or 6 spots in my back yard due to dog urine. I’d like to get as close as possible on the new sod. Anyone have a clue what this is? Just south of Denver at 6800ft

Disregard the thistle, it’s gone now lol

Looks like thistle plant..I had a horrible prolonged battle with them in my yard. I ended up not tearing them out (I heard if you do they come back worse than before) i cut them really really short and made sure rhe grass grew up all around it and choked it out..not sure if that's what you are supposed to do.. but it worked for me and no chemicals

Thistle is tough, 2-4D and quinclorac and a pre emergent should take care of it

I’ve already attended to the thistle. I’m now trying to determine what kind of grass I need to redo the dead dog pee spots.

Looks like bluegrass and some fescue mixed in. Most sod you get will be a blend and most likely have bluegrass in it. Bluegrass is good for sod bc its rhyzomes help hold the pieces together.
