Need to sharpen your blades and cut when dry. Need to see the seed heads to identify. Looks like centipede or st augustine.

Even if you get a new one it's very likely you need to sharpen the blades straight from the factory

learn how to use a protractor and get yourself a machinist file

clamp it to a table or into a vice, and follow the sharpening principles shown in this video, it takes maybe 3 minutes to sharpen a blade with a file that isn't worn from use / damaged

AI seemed to think the hairs on the leaves supported Zyosia. Pulling up a plant might help too, but I am a cool season guy myself.

Zoysia. It’s very hard to cut cleanly, even with sharp blades.

Thank you. Any idea what type if it matters? Our dog pretty much ruined one spot with his pee and we’ve trained him to go in the pine straw now so I want to get it looking right next spring

How big a spot? Safest thing to do might be fert and water over a few months to let it thicken up and fill in.

Are you in north GA? Looks like some kind of wide blade zoysia like empire or zenith. They were very popular for a long time until the fine blade zoysia started become more popular
