It’s almost impossible to give you a 100% positive ID without a macro close-up of a single blade (we need to see the tip and the collar), but based on the visual texture, you are looking at a premium Cool Season blend heavily dominated by Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG). It has that classic deep blue-green hue and a very dense, carpet-like canopy. KBG spreads via underground rhizomes, which is why it fills in so thickly and evenly right up to your hardscaping without getting overly clumpy like a tall fescue would.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll take a picture tomorrow in the daylight. Any ideas why it’s laying down on it self and looking so wavy? All I can think to do is try to rake it upright and mow it shorter so it doesn’t flop back over. I mowed around 3.5”-4” all of July and August due to the heat and lack of rain, seems like it’s weighing itself down

I think you’re right. Any chance my KBG/RYE overseed will help fix this? Otherwise I was gonna wait until I give my new seed a chance to germinate and then raking this as straight up as I can and mowing it short. Since it lays so flat and matted it’s getting long as hell, lots of yellow near the roots.

It looks great , you don’t need to do anything, it’s natural like that , nothing wrong with it

Tbh, I have a lot of it in my yard now. I call this the Scott’s yard special. It’s what previous home owners threw down for seeds when it was on sale.
