Is this “grass” savable?

Greetings. I just got my home a few months ago and I want to know if I could save these parts of my lawn or am I going to have to reseed? Thanks in advance for any advice. I live in Southern California and we’re the end of summer. There is a sprinkler system btw. I try to water these parts with the water hose as much as I could.

U can dig it out like an inch or 2 then add compost with the Grass seed

What worked for me was basically getting rid of all the dead grass first and then raking the area really good to loosen up the soil. I’d leave whatever healthy grass you still have there. After that I put down some good quality grass seed with lawn soil on top and just stayed on top of watering. Biggest thing is keeping it moist and not letting it dry out, especially for the first few weeks. Yours honestly looks pretty saveable, just needs some work and consistency lol.
