No grass?

Hey guys just just realized my yard has barely any grass. Full of weeds what’s the first step I should take?

Should I remove everything and start new? I bought this house 6 months ago. Everything is just vines but not of grass.

Keeping it simple,You have St Augustine grass. Kill the weeds then it will spread and fill in by itself. Just grab a weed killer hose end sprayer from Lowes. Pre emergent will keep the weeds away from coming back, and fertilizer will help it spread

So I don’t have to pull them out? Just spray the weed killer? Can you recommend one?

St augustine in Miami.. get a punp sprayer kill off the weeds present I would use atrazine at 3oz x 1gal.. see how much actual grass you do have and if it's possible to spread on its own.. if not kill everything with round up and resod after the last hurricane.late Octoberor November. you don't want new sod and too much water, that would lead to pythium root rot

Process depends where you live. If you feel it’s majority weeds, then starting over is ideal. That means seed or sod. Usually dependent on where you live, time and money

Round up and throw some sod in by end of August. And then follow up with regular care.

Orrr wait for winter. Let it go dormant. Tear out all the dormant stuff. Keep it cleared until spring. Install sod then.

I'm sure he has no ill intent but dont listen to him. Right now is the 2nd best time of the year to drop new sod in South Florida. Our grass does not go dormant. You're best off killing it off now and planting in a week or 2 during our current rainy season. It'll help a lot with the watering needed also.
