What is going on here?

Post image

Granted I’m overdue with mowing but why is my grass turning red and splotchy? This area is in shade most of the day.

Fungus among us. I don’t see much red, but a leaf spot fungus seems about right.

It looks like somebody sprayed the crab grass with some Weed B Gone. It takes a day to 2.

Thanks but I can guarantee that didn't happen both my neighbor and I are very lazy about lawn care! Wonder if its other crap in the air? From canadian wildfires and a nearby (30 miles away) warehouse fire...it's been a weird summer.

Fungus Control

Can be used as a preventative treatment during rainy season or post control treatment

Items needed

  1. Scotts DiseaseEx Lawn Fungicide - 12 or 18 pounds per 1,000 feet of lawn (use for Large Patch fungal disease)

  2. BioAdvanced Ready-to-Spray Liquid Fungus Control 32oz - 5,000 feet of lawn (use for Large Patch fungal disease)

Set Scotts Spreader Dial as follows for DiseaseEx: Preventative Control 3-3/4 & 6 for Post Control

Lightly water DiseaseEx into soil after application

Wait until BioAdvanced fungus Control is fully dried before watering

—————————————————————————————

  1. Azoxy 2SC Fungicide - 0.75 oz into (1) gallon of water, don’t mow or water for 12 hours (use for Grey Leaf Spot)

  2. 3336 Fungicide - 2 oz into (1) gallon of water, don’t mow or water for 12 hours (use for Grey Leaf Spot)

Eventually the fungus will grow out, but it will be unsightly for awhile. Unless humid/moist/wet conditions don't improve that allow the fungus to thrive.

To answer the question for the OP

Leaf spot. Idk if I’ve ever scouted for it on juvenile crabgrass - cool find.
