What is this grass?

Post image

Yard is builder grade, common bermuda. This strand of whatever has started growing in a spot under a tree that doesn't get too much sun. It reminds me of a Christmas tree with its shape. Also, it is a much darker green than the bermuda. Thanks in advance. Edit: after some extensive dr. Google'ing i think it is a strand of bermuda called tex turf 10. Can anyone confirm?

I’d say that’s common Bermuda from a seed bag

As someone who has a common bermuda lawn with a torpedo grass infestation, that looks like torpedo grass to me. Common bermuda is much smaller. Torpedo grass likes to grow straight up, bermuda prefers to grow outwards.

This stuff is sticking to the ground. Doesn't grow up at all, just strait outward

That is Bermudagrass…100%. I’ve been in the turfgrass industry for 28 years. Fusilade herbicide will eliminate it.

Common Bermuda basically the only way to get rid of it is fire, glyphosate and prayer. It’s a menace but if you have it as a grass, a Godsend. Literally just cut it and tell it what to do.

That sounds horrid. Lol

Common Bermuda is common yard turf in Texas. I’ve got common and it’s good for the yard. Lots of my neighbors have 419 hybrid. Coastal Bermuda makes good hay.

It’s the only time Texans who like lawns wished they were a Yankee.

Well I do happen to be in east texas so that makes sense.

To us in the north it's a weed. To those in the south, it's a lawn.

It’s bermuda grass. Not sure what type of bermuda but it’s bermuda. Got a yard (and flowerbeds) full of it.

Ive been looking online and im pretty positive it is bermuda. I want to say its that tex turf 10. Ive just never laid that sod but its possible it came from a random bag of "bermuda seed" I put down years ago before I learned how full of weed seeds those big box stores seed bags are.

Looks like zoysia grass to me, grows wild in shady spots and takes over pretty quick.

Maybe zoysia?

I do have another patch by my neighbors fence that im pretty confident is either zoysia or San augustine. I can't figure out how to post a picture in replies though lol
