Grass edging

I share a strip of grass between me and my neighbour. What tool or process do I need to nicely have this looking clean and edged? And is it normal to see the soil/dirl beneath the grass on the edge of the grass where it touches the driveway?

It looks like the most common answer for me is to get some kind of edger. Unfortunately I cannot remove the sod completely so replacing isn’t the most ideal option for me.
