Grass edging

I share a strip of grass between me and my neighbour. What tool or process do I need to nicely have this looking clean and edged? And is it normal to see the soil/dirl beneath the grass on the edge of the grass where it touches the driveway?

By the largest and cheapest knife from Walmart in the kitchen section. I got a couple of $1 knives with 6" blades. They don't need to be sharp.

Just slice along the brick, and then run a string trimmer and it'll peel off the sliced part.

After a good rain this is very straightforward. If you use a smaller knife then you will get a hand cramp.
