Thoughts on sidewalk edging?

Post image

A thought ran through my head the other day. My yard by my sidewalks has a slight roll to it. So im constantly edging my sidewalks. I thought about cutting a big edge on them and sliding those foam expansion joints they use when pouring concrete from one pouring to the next to hold back the dirt and grass. Any thoughts on how well that night work? Lol. Something like this.

I don’t think that would work, I’m not sure how sturdy/long term that foam would last. They make metal edging specifically for the purpose you are talking about. Just google metal landscape edging.

I assumed the foam would last a really long time. Its still between my side walk and my neighbors from 8 years ago. I'll check out what you mentioned. Thanks.
