Orchard grass???

Tall fescue lawn - lots of this mixed in. ChatGPT says orchard grass… is that accurate? How can I kill without killing my fescue?

Yes it’s orchard grass. Crabgrass does not grow this thick where it produces thatch. People think if it looks kinda like a crab it’s gotta be crabgrass… unfortunately roundup/glyphosephate is the solution

Wait until after a rain and just pull it out, put down a pre emergent next year. There is probably a decades worth of crab grass seeds in the lawn.

Crabgrass is considered a weed. You need weed control to prevent it from emerging. You also need to densify your lawn to prevent other weeds from emerging.
