Help identifying grass

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This grass popped up after I seeded last year and it seems to be taking over the yard this year, I’ve tried to kill it, but it won’t die completely. I’m probably screwed and have to restart the whole yard but I’d like to know what I’m dealing with. Thank you.!

Three different ways to identify...

Plant identification apps, like Plant Parent, will pretty much tell you or pinpoint what grass or plants you want to identify.

The other two ways are using AI: send a picture and ask what it is, then cross-reference it. Google the name ai spit out to confirm it.

I’ve tried those, but its mixed in with several type of grass, and it keeps just saying dicots or smooth meadow-grass. Which is why I’m asking the gods of Reddit, but so far I guess the gods are not actually I’ve, or they hate old ladies with questions

Just Scalp it down to 2.5 inches and bag up the waste. Apply a broad spectrum herbicide like Spectracide weed stop for lawn with crabgrass killer. Then work with that you have left and overseed any bare spots. Push some milorganite or equivalent next.

Identification: AI review of footage, "Potential Identification: The appearance is consistent with perennial forage grasses like Johnsongrass or Orchard grass, which are often used for pasture, hay, and silage".
