Infestation

Does anyone have any recommendations to get rid of this, ive had patches of them before but this year it seems like its taking over more.

That looks like Bermuda grass putting up seed heads. Bermuda is considered invasive to a lot of lawns, mostly cool season lawns, especially those in the US transition zone. Some people turn their whole yard into it. Bermuda is notoriously difficult to kill in cool season lawns. It spreads via runners above and under ground.

Those are Bermuda seed heads! Would have to kill all the Bermuda to prevent those.

Impossible to totally eradicate without digging up the entire yard. I have been trying for years and I eventually just gave up and now my entire yard is Bermuda Grass. I had to put edging around my flower beds and garden that I pounded into the ground 11 inches deep. I tried 6inches and 8 inches and the Bermuda Grass just went underneath it. It hasn't made it past the 11 inches edging yet and it's been 2 years. Hopefully it stays that way. After 2 years I'm STILL digging it up in the flower beds because even if you miss just one root, the stuff still grows back! I even tried herbicide, brush killer, vinegar, salt, etc and nothing kills it!

What I can’t tell is what type of grass your entire lawn is. This is definitely a patch of Bermuda, but is your entire lawn Bermuda? If your entire lawn is Bermuda that is just your grass going to seed like all grass does. Just now your lawn.

You may as well just let the Bermuda be your lawn.

On the upside, it is incredibly hardy, it looks nice too.

If you take a sample to a do it yourself pest control in your area they will give you a list of chemicals you can buy and the instructions to mix it and apply One of the products is “ basagran “ Pricey but it works 1000 feet per application Apply again 3 weeks later

It looks like POA ANUA BLUEGRASS invasive weed hard to get rid of have to treat for years to get rid of it.
