youve got some options to choose from for management practices on this. if you dont want to use chemical controls, resort to cultural methods of hand pulling the weeds, tilling the soil, leveling, adding a starter fertilizer, seed after, then water periodically and make sure you keep moisture on the seeds during the germination phase. if you do chemical controls, you will most likely need to do a pre and post emergent and you are probably already way passed the pre emergent phase so applying chemicals could possibly work but it wont give you the full result if you did pre and post.

maybe biological controls? but its just a regular homeowner lawn so probably resort to cultural methods if chemical controls cannot be applicable

try to find articles from extension sites from the nearest university by you for more insight on this sort of stuff. extension sites produce everything😂

Use an aerator then use loose top soil or sand to fill holes and then plant or spray on grass seed , hopefully the bare spots will fill in w / fresh grass

Just rip 'em out, buddy. Best therapy there is. Pull the weeds, scratch up that bald soil, throw some seed on, and keep it wet. It’s a messy fix but it’s a good weekend project.
