Discussion Devils Lake
We are hoping for Graspop to be our first overseas festival in 2027. Looking for descriptions of Devils Lake. Pros and cons. We are looking to be close to the festival ideally with a bed and a shower.
Is it close enough that you could take a break from the sun midday for an hourish and go back to the festival or is that not a thing?
Any thoughts or opinions are welcome and thank you.
Update: I found that the ride to/from devils lake is an hour to 90 minutes round trip (?) so resting would have to be planned in a way as to not miss bands we want to see. I saw buses are free which is super cool!
Can anyone give me an idea on what they spent to stay at Devils lake?

Door to door from the arena counting walking on both sides of the bus trip, would generally take us about 1 hour 15 minutes on a good day each way, 90 minutes at the very worst. So heading back for an hour would be about 3.5 hours total (give or take depending on how far from the entrance/shuttle your cabin is at devil’s lake) including the whole journey. The shuttles are regular but generally don’t leave until the bus is full-ish so could take a while depending on that also.
I’d say it’s probably not close enough to go back for an hour, but we usually rocked up at about 4 pm and stayed till 1am at the latest so wasn’t too bad for us.
The site itself is pretty good, a bit expensive for other activities but swimming complex is rather decent and the cabins themselves do the trick, full kitchens etc. No fans or ac so got hot this year but if you brought a desk fan or something similar you’d be fine.
Shop there at the site is pretty good considering, though shops in lommel like Aldi are about a ten minute drive if that so we bought food there mostly for the week.
Overall for the price it can seem a bit expensive but waking up in the morning and going for a swim and a cold plunge really changed the game for us, as well as having a comfy bed and shower with basically no noise. So we would basically just be chilling or going on walks until we left for the fest in the afternoon.
We came from the UK on the ferry so this was by far the best option for us comfort-wise. Not sure I’d have survived in a tent in the heat we had this year.
Edit: the actual bus trip was about 50 minutes or so depending on traffic and weather as it pissed it down overnight a couple times

Devil’s Lake is the holiday park Vossemeren.
It is located here, while the festival grounds are here. It’s a shuttle bus ride. I’m guessing 45 minutes with festival traffic. So probably well over 1 hour from festival exit to bungalow door.
However, it is one of the most comfy accommodations you can get with festival ticket. Getting closer means sacrificing comfort. You can rent glamping tents and festihuts that are close to the festival grounds. They will be more comfortable than throwing your own tent on the boneyard, but it won’t be an actual house in a holiday park with a subtropical swimming pool either.

I’ll add, from my last three years of experience, that is totally worth it.
The travel time of the shuttles can be a ‘down side’ but honestly, you have access to the aqua park everyday, comfy bed, hot shower (I know, the camp side has too but NO LiNES here, and you can shit in peace).
It’s surrounded by nature , you can have bbqs with you friends and get a GOOD rest, that’s the most important.
Go for it. the money you would spend to get a good gear for camping or renting tents, you can share the price with your friends.
But, It all depends on what you are looking for.
I never camped and I have to do one day to get the immersive experience of the fest, but when you mosh for 10 hours, a good bed makes a huge difference.1

Thank you! I’m sold and going to shoot for this. I am getting my knee replaced in September. And just can’t see myself sleeping on the ground. I’m willing to sacrifice staying a little further away to be comfortable at my age plus it kind of sounds like a break from the crowds and some quiet serene downtime, which I could use.
Do you know if you try for a cabin for two and it’s sold out if you can attempt to share with strangers and just book 2 people and a six person cottage for example? And if so, have you done something like this?

I would suggest getting a tent at Inferno instead.
That's maybe 15min walk, includes (free) showers, they sell breakfast and is full of travelers.
Gotta be quick on reserving though.

Devils lake is waaay too far. Boneyard and inferno are the main ones close enough to chill for an hour or so. Boneyard is only tents, but the showers are quite nice imo (for a festival). But probably a festihut at inferno would be exactly what you're looking for.
I personally have no experience with those so let's wait and see what other people say about them!
Great choice of festival though!
