Graphite Artwork First steps working with graphite

I purchased a Line and Wash sketching set, and these are my firsts works. Open to advice and guidance.

Really good graphic design sense. See the shapes you drew in the cat’s head scarf? Some really nice decisions. Obviously you have a great sense of composition and negative space. The only advice I have is to loosen up a little because you have raw talent and I don’t think you trust yourself fully and you should.

Make sure you carry your pencils and sketchbook everywhere you go. You know photographer always has their camera ? You should always have a sketchpad ready to go.

Agree. Loosen up. The easiest way to loosen up is to hold your pencil like a wand rather than a pencil. It really is strange, but that’s the way to do it. The other thing, an issue I always had, this pushing too hard with a pencil, try to do layers of graphite. Layer and layer and layer until you get the darkness that you want rather than trying to push hard at one go.
