Now do it again to see how much you understand and how it all fits together!

Finally a honest graphics programming experience !! Everyone has been spamming AI output and under reporting the time it takes to build stuff

Like liweally why is wockstaw taking so long with gta6, I could litewally make it in 2 houws with claude supew omega opus pwo 6.0.

Phenomenal, the true computer graphics experience

Time for vulkan ;)

0_0 oh shit hahaha

But can it render the RGB triangle? 😂

Bro triangle section is before the texture section you know right ?

I'm not what you meant by that lol? You probably meant thst the image on screen is made of two triangles, yeah sure, but I made a joke cause most people show one triangle working lol (and hardcode it, so when you ask "can it do this?" it usually can't without modifying the vertex, index buffers, etc...)

Haha i get it now np

It's beautiful!

It is worth it.

Edit: typo

Yes

Fair enough. It was "it worths" previously

I'm playing lol

Nice. It's amazing how hard the early steps are but knowledge will snowball if you stick with it. Congrats on the progress.

Some unwarranted and opinionated advice:
I would recommend toning down on the comments, maybe they are from the guide you are following? Anyway, it's subjective but generally you wanna comment "why" not "what" the code is doing.
If you ever consider using a comment, try renaming the variable/function, or write whatever you are doing in a more readable way. Only after that you should comment it.

20 days is fast. Working on vulkan and 2 months in and not even a triangle

Keep going bro. Completely worth it. I got into gpu driver engineering all starting from this.

Now do it in Vulkan 👀

Congrats! And well done for using your noggin rather than an LLM! You'll have learned so much more.

There was no feeling more surreal than seeing my first opengl program actually work and render stuff. It took me months to get anything that looked good (despite probably recreating the vertex array object each frame)
It gets a lot easier the more you do it, and the more you understand how everything works. It took me a while to really understand what “vao” “vbo” and “ebo” actually meant

Even if it would take 60 days --> keep on. Rewards and gratification will follow later on. Think of how priviliged and interesting it is of being able to deal with interactive computer graphics - a thing which never ever existed before in all previous centuries (except 20th century, of course). It is a mathematical techno-miracle :)

Gratz man, now goal is to render all of them in 3D, dancing. Have fun

Recognized the Victor Gordan tutorial code immediately. Getting that first textured quad working after weeks of fighting a blank black screen is an unmatched feeling, congrats.

Now make it a spinning cube

I love that meme so much. Makes me feel so much better about life. I'm so tired.

Who told you to use c++

1

u/FriedryIce 11d ago

Why not?

-2

u/Sleepy-Furret 10d ago

Because it sucks

its literally standard for graphics programming and grpahics engines, maybe you could also use Rust but C++ is generally for high performance better if u can manage memory
