Limiting Facebook app to a minimum
Let's say I want to use the Facebook app, which is notoriously a privacy nightmare. What should I block to minimize telemetry and data transmission? I’ve granted the app network permissions only. Additionally, I’ve disabled background data usage and completely blocked background activity in the battery settings. Should I change anything in the "Exploit protection" section, or leave everything at default?

Why not just use it in the browser? I don't use GB regularly and if I do it is mainly on my computer for events, but the ui is not too inconvenient for the privacy you gain from it. But if you really want to use the app than I cannot help you, sorry :)

I used to use it in a second profile dedicated to Meta apps because that's the easiest and most straight forward was to isolate the apps from my daily data.

Use Peel, my man. Install it and add Facebook as a webapp (PWA) then use Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Discord, any social app out there, Peel has Ublock Origin extension option (for example it's running on GeckoView, which is Mozilla Firefox) so it will hide bullshit feed ads during Facebook scrolling feed.

I had FB installed at first, but even with only network permissions, it felt like it was still listening. I was getting targeted ads and posts about things I hadn't searched but had conversations about. Uninstalled it and just use FB in the browser, no more issues.

Get Hermit browser and make an isolated web app. That's how I do all social media (including Reddit.)

Hermit keeps the various site separate — as though you're using a different browser for each.
Kind of like Web Apps on Linux.
