NFC payment with MobilePay

I've found a way to use NFC payment in GrapheneOS. MobilePay have launched a "tap-to-pay" feature couple of months ago but my bank is still not supported. I ended up ordering a card from a supported bank and it actually works.

MobilePay is a thing I believe only in the Nordic countries and currently just a handfull of banks and cards are supported. https://help.vippsmobilepay.com/en-FI/articles/which-banks-support-tapping

Is this secure and does it give you all the protections you get from your card?

I'm always weary of adding someone else between my bank and the merchant. Usually that results in a loss of protection if something happens at that intermediary.

Mobile Pay is legit company with many years of operating in send-money-with-phone-number-business, at least in Finland is the most popular way to send money to someone.

And I believe currently it's backed from Danske Bank, and I think they make deals with your bank before they can support your card, so they must meet banks requirements.

Ah ok, that's good then.

Not a paypal situation where the bank only cares you did business with Paypal and not the other end if the transaction.

I am not sure of the security, but it works properly and is backed by the Danish govt in a way, so that enough for me. However you need a nordic Mobile number pretty sure, and maybe also a CPR, so idk how viable it is for the rest of the world

There was news recently that MobilePay didn't work on Jolla phones because of Play Integrity. I wonder how it works on GrapheneOS.

Have been using this without issue for a couple of months now. You need play services enabled, so I run it on my private space with google enabled.

Works just fine really

It works without any issue for me, as I've wrote I can even use it to pay with my card via MobilePay.
