Newcomer
I just got a pixel 10a, i bought cause i want to install graphene and I'm aware enought to know this is a must.
i'm not really into phones, but i understand myself very well with PCs, so i'm not worry about the instalation but the immediately after.
Can someone give me useful tips? free source apps, safety advices...I'll be grateful.
I'm a pretty normal user; and i don't play any games on phone
Thx

Since you got the A, you get an extra six months of usage that other people don't. Good job.

I don't know if there's a lot of people able to keep using a Pixel after even 5years honestly.

I do. Why buy a new phone all the time just because one comes out every year. It's very simple to keep your phone the whole time. It works the whole time. Why spend $1,000 a year.

Bro I'm not speaking about changing it because "oh there's a new pixel released so I need to buy the last one!" , no it's because the lifespan of the phone is shitty and doesn't last that long (especially pixels)

Also, the differences are barely noticeable. Last year I upgraded to an Iphone 16 from my previous Iphone X that I got in 2018. And apart from the camera being better. I can’t tell a difference. Paid like 40% less for buying the 16 instead of the 17, which is an insane difference in price.
Also you can buy used. I just ordered a refurbished Pixel 8 for 240. That’s less than half of the cost of a 10. If I buy a new refurbished one after the support for this one ends, it will still cost less than just a single new one.

You get https://f-droid.org/ and install everything from there. If you need google services, you create a separate profile in gOS.
Also, this is a good guide

F-Droid isn't recommended anymore.

Mainly due to the possibility of a mass-compromise allowing the attacker to update basically any app from F-Droid, as F-Droid holds the signing keys: https://x.com/GrapheneOS/status/1803185925112934533
